Summary

Description
English: The crew patch for the International Space Station's Expedition 74
  • The Expedition 74 patch depicts the spirit of space exploration on the International Space Station (ISS), rooted by our connections to family and our respect for the beauty and fragility of our home planet.
  • The crew's shared love of exploring and protecting the natural elements on Earth is seen in the mountains, with the backdrop of our planet's precious blue oceans and the thin, tenuous band of atmosphere (orange band of airglow) that supports all life within. The mountainscape also represents both our individual and shared journeys, and the challenges of the diverse paths that shaped us.
  • The trajectory of the launch plume rises from behind the mountains, signifying that this journey was successful only with the help of others. Disappearing into the horizon, the far side of the trajectory is an homage to our eternal bond with the family and loved ones that have departed us.
  • The star, central to and above our destination of the ISS, consists of the colors of all flags of the crew's respective nations equitably integrated into one, embodying the harmony of our international effort in the pursuit of science and exploration. A second star is reflected directly below back on Earth, denoting the unwavering link to our families, loved ones, and support teams. Situated in between the 7 and the 4, their support is paramount to our mission.
