Description Facade of Claremont House, Esher, Surrey, built 1769-74 by w:Robert Clive, 1st Baron Clive (d.1774), who had married Margaret Maskelyne (d.1817), sister of the Rev. Dr Nevil Maskelyne, fifth Astronomer Royal. Arms: Argent, on a fess sable three mullets or (Clive) impaling Sable, a fess engrailed between three escallops argent (Maskelyne) (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.666).
