DescriptionAndrew Jackson, by John Wesley Jarvis.jpg
English: This portrait of Andrew Jackson was painted by John Wesley Jarvis circa 1817. Jarvis modeled the painting after a portrait by another American artist, Nathan W. Wheeler. Jackson was president from March 4, 1829 until March 4, 1837. He had served in the House of Representatives and the Senate prior to his time in the White House, but was most famous for his victories as a major general in the War of 1812.
