Original research
Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you. Canterbury Tail talk 12:34, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
- My citations were taken directly from the Wiktionary page about the etymology of "Éire", they're not "original research" by any stretch of the imagination. Pescavelho (talk) 12:54, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
- Wiktionary is an open Wiki and as a result is not a reliable source. Canterbury Tail talk 13:23, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not using Wiktionary itself as a source, I'm citing the sources cited in that Wiktionary page, which are from reputable dictionaries (better than the current source used in Republic of Ireland, which cites a tourism website). I don't get what the issue is (actually I do, you saw that I made a sizeable edit and reflexively reverted it, under the admittedly noble intention of wanting to stop potential vandalism) but if you need more sources I can provide more sources, or better yet, taking it to the Talk page of the respective articles. Pescavelho (talk) 13:33, 2 April 2024 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for July 5
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Zoroaster, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Magician. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Your edit on Ba'athist Syria
First you placed the spammed sources wrong, it's for "Assadist Syria" which isn't prominently used (also dubious sources imo). Otherwise, the Syrian regime has almost same usage as the Assad regime (see talkpage ngrams). Syrian regime was a synonymous derogatory term to the Assad regime. So reconsider your edit imo. Beshogur (talk) 22:01, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- look Beshogur (talk) 22:04, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- Firstly: the name "Assadist Syria" and the multiple sources backing it up were already in the article, I simply shuffled them to the appropriate place instead of them being all crammed at the beginning, so you're barking at the wrong tree. I don't mind "Assadist Syria" being removed from the article, if anything I support it given both a lack of usage and the fact that it seems to imply that "Assadism" is an ideology like Baathism is.
- Secondly: my main objection is that the term "Syrian regime" is too vague. All it does is denote incumbency, if the new government sticks around for as long as the Assad regime did, who's to say people won't start calling it the "Syrian regime" as well? Pescavelho (talk) 01:03, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
- I think that user just took all sources mentioning "Assadist Syria". No single newspaper have used this since years maybe. Beshogur (talk) 12:35, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

Conventional/common name for Judean provisional government
I saw your recent change to Judean provisional government, and while I think your changes were appropriate and your reasoning made sense, I'm interested in the discussion around whether the historiographical name or the name they used to refer to themselves should be at the top of the infobox. The article for the Byzantine Empire, for example, has "Byzantine Empire" at the top of the infobox instead of Roman Empire or Rome like they referred to themselves. You've been editing on Wikipedia for longer than me, do you happen to know if there's a manual of style(?) policy about this, or if it's an article by article decision up to the editors or something like that? Buglover100000 (talk) 19:28, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
- I don't think it's a hard-and-fast rule, I just personally prefer using "official" names at the top of the infobox whenever feasible. Pescavelho (talk) 19:52, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
- Word, that makes sense! Buglover100000 (talk) 03:43, 6 March 2025 (UTC)

Hi Pescavelho. Thank you for your work on Khanjar Division. Another editor, MPGuy2824, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
not mentioned in target page

-MPGuy2824 (talk) 11:59, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
- @MPGuy2824: It's just another spelling of "Handschar" (which is a more German-inspired spelling). Since "Khanjar Division" didn't redirect to anywhere else, I figured a redirect there couldn't here. Pescavelho (talk) 12:01, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
- If you have a good source that mentions this, then add this alternate spelling to the target page. Without that, it would be surprising to readers. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 12:03, 27 March 2025 (UTC)

Hi Pescavelho! I noticed that you recently made an edit at Savage Islands and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. "Minor edit" has a specific definition on Wikipedia: it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. fifteen thousand two hundred twenty four (talk) 15:19, 11 May 2025 (UTC)

Removal of Ethiopia in allegiances on "White Guard"
Hello, it looks like you have completely unsourcedly added Ethiopia to the allegiances of the White Guard of finland, and saying they were involved in the Italo-Ethiopian war and were enemies with Italy. I will assume this was a silent griefing attempt as there is quite literally nothing that points to this (nor a source added) and would like you to not do that again. I've undone your changes Jesuliz (talk) 00:09, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Jesuliz I took it from the Finnish Wiki page for the White Guard, which has a source, but it doesn't appear to be accessible anymore (even the Wayback Machine isn't helping me). It looked sketchy to me but I was trying to pack as much information as concisely as possible when I was redoing the infobox and got carried away. Admitedly, even if some White Guards fought for Ethiopia during the Italo-Ethiopian War idk if it would merit them being mentioned, so it being removed doesn't bother me. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. – sbaio 14:44, 19 July 2025 (UTC)
Introduction to contentious topics
You have recently edited a page related to the Balkans or Eastern Europe, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Page for the Battle of Fort Coimbra
Hello, I noticed you separated some content from New Coimbra Fort, and made it into a new article. Ordinarily that'd be fine, but the article is undergoing good article review right now, and it should not be subject to significant changes. I ask you to please self-rv; additionally, you have to give attribution to the original article on the new one (on the edit summary, say something on the lines of content taken from article x, edit id y, see its history for attribution). Cheers, Coeusin (talk) 10:41, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
- I'm fine with my edits being reverted, but I have to ask: Besides moving the infobox to the new page, leaving a link to said new page on the article, and fixing some capitalization issues, I left most of the page intact. Do those count as significant changes that could jeopardize the good article review?
- As for notifying that I've lifted content from an old page to a newly created page, I'll be sure to do that going forward, thanks for the heads up. Pescavelho (talk) 10:48, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
