Should there be a short section about SM64 speedrunning?

Speedrunning has risen greatly in popularity and SM64 is arguably the most important and popular game for speedrunning. It was important in the rise of twitch and livestreaming (where for a time runners like Siglemic had the most popular streams on the whole site). New world records and strategies garner lots of attention, and there is a large community. I think a short section should be added.

With the announcement of the Nintendo Direct of a Nintendo Switch 2 Re-Release titled "Super Mario 64 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + The Forgotten Floors" there is a part that is out of date. The rerelease is due in June 2026. Reaushambeaux (talk) 22:36, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

nvm found out it's a fan-made trailer. It looked so realistic. Reaushambeaux (talk) 22:39, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not done If I am to understand you correctly, the request was not necessarySlomo666 (talk) 22:48, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Correct. It was human error on my part. Reaushambeaux (talk) 01:57, 30 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Fan games

There are over 1500 rom hacks of Super Mario 64 before you even count other fan games. What criteria is being used to determine which ones are relevant to mention on this page? These are mostly things made by Kaze or another youtuber, plus one project with an obscenely toxic creator and fanbase. The most famous projects aren't here at all. I suggest removing this section entirely, frankly. Super Mario 64 is probably the second most romhacked game ever after Super Mario World, maybe the first now, and there must be hundreds of other fan games of it. This should be contextualised correctly rather than advertising individual projects that would never merit having their own wikipedia article. ~2025-34220-08 (talk) 20:13, 16 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

unused content

there should be a section for the unused content and data leaked from the various nintendo leaks Joltikandmew (talk) 16:57, 20 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have reliable sources to prove unused content is anywhere near notable? I'm not "in-the-know" of Video Game articles specifically, but I usually don't see sections on unused content or glitches on pages. That would fall under trivia, I believe. In the fan projects section could SM64 Star road be there?

Super Mario 64 Star road is one of the most popular rom hacks for 64 and I don't see any mention of it anywhere, does it warrant a mention, or should it not be mentioned? (Please tell me if I'm wrong Just wondering) Jiovani1219 (talk) 07:08, 22 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Such article content should meet Wikipedia's definition of notability (i.e., it should have received coverage from reliable third party sources). While not impossible, the majority of fan projects don't receive such coverage. If you'd like to check, the VG Project has a custom Google search made of all the sources it has vetted to be reliable. Hope it helps. (Guyinblack25 talk 14:00, 22 December 2025 (UTC))[reply]
