Hello, I'm Jasper Deng, and welcome to Wikipedia. I appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to List of tropical cyclone records, it appears that you added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. You cannot just assume data from different satellites is comparable. Jasper Deng (talk) 09:04, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Jasper Deng:
- I can make that assumption to some degree. GOES-16 through GOES-19, as members of the GOES R-Series, all feature the Advanced Baseline Imager. The eye dryness measurement I added was a measure of brightness temperature taken at ABI Band 9, which operates at a central wavelength of 6.9µm.[1] Although that might sound weird and arbitrary, it does accurately reflect dryness and there is precedent for measuring it dating back to 2016.
- You are right about previous satellites differing though, with 6.7µm being a common wavelength from the early 80s to 2000s.[2]
- A number of news sites [3][4] have since mentioned the record, but I'll leave it to you/the community to decide whether inclusion of something like that is appropriate. RajanD100 (talk) 12:33, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
