200 peso note

I'm not sure why some are trying to put the 200 peso note as "rarely used" in the info box. You see them every day in stores and on the street. Maybe years ago, it was considered rare, but I see them every day. Perhaps due to inflation, or just they are printing more of them. They are obviously the least commonly used note, but far from "rare". Unless someone has a source that is current (last year or so) that demonstrate how "rare" they are, it shouldn't be included as a rarely used currency. Dennis Brown - 00:19, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Reverted back again, along with P20 note. These are not "rare" enough to be called "rare", I see them in cities all over the Philippines. They are less common, but that isn't "rare". I also added the 10¢ coin to the rare coins, since they have not been minted since 2017. Got my first one the other day. These ARE rare. Dennis Brown - 11:15, 15 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know where you go, but as a Filipino, I don't see a lot of P200 note and I would agree that P20 paper is also getting rare. Personal anecdotes are not sufficient to prove the rarity of a denomination. We need to constitute what makes a bill rare to settle this objectively. You are correct, we need to demonstrate that they are "rare", and we do this with independent, reliable sources. Unless there is a source that says "they are becoming rare", then we don't make the claim. That is how it works with claims in an article. Any contested edit needs to provide a citation demonstrating it is a fact. As for where I travel: all over. Davao, Dumaguete, Cebu, Tagaytay, Manila, Bacolod, Iligan, Cagayon de Oro, all over the place, regularly. Wikipedia policy doesn't say I need to prove they are not rare, it says you need to demonstrate they ARE rare. If there is an article or two talking about it, great, provide the links. If not, they you and I just have different experiences, and the default is to not make an unsubstantiated claim without proof. Dennis Brown - 05:29, 28 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
