File:LocalNUTS3Oeste.png needs authorship information

Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:LocalNUTS3Oeste.png appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: {{subst:usernameexpand|Nelson Ricardo 2500}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.
  • If this is an old image, for which the authorship is unknown or impossible to determine, please indicate this on the file description page.
If you have any questions please see Help:File page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 21:13, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Portuguese translation

Hello. I was on Wikipedia:Translators available and notice that you were on the list for Portuguese to English translators and wondered if you could translate Prince Peter of Saxe-Coburg-Kohary? Thank you or obrigado. The Emperor's New Spy (talk) 13:35, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article ProClarity has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Short-lived, non-notable tech business. Essentially promotional.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hey Nricardo; I'm dropping you this note because you've used the article feedback tool in the last month or so. On Thursday and Friday the tool will be down for a major deployment; it should be up by Saturday, failing anything going wrong, and by Monday if something does :). File:LocalDistritoLeiria.png missing description details

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as:

is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the image, and it will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Theo's Little Bot (error?) 08:41, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for File:LocalDistritoLeiria.png

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 19:19, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of automated file description generation

Your upload of File:Caldas da Rainha Pottery.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

The article is a stylistic mess and I merely tried to tidy it up somewhat. But I can't see what you objected to here. The only thing remotely fitting that description is my replacement of "|author=Assembleia da República ([[Assembly of the Republic (Portugal)]])" with "|author=Assembleia da República ([[Assembly of the Republic (Portugal)|Assembly of the Republic]])". I don't see that as being in any way wrong, and it's quite customary to pipe such links. Admittedly it could be piped differently. Regards, -- Ohc ¡digame! 02:24, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Caldas da Rainha — Nossa Senhora do Pópulo and Caldas da Rainha — Santo Onofre have em dashes in the legislation that defines the names. Other dash edits change the titles of cited sources. Also, I disagree with much of the delinking. —Nelson Ricardo (talk) 02:33, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Municipality is not a word that everyone knows. Readers may be curious to know the difference between a city and a town. Please keep in mind that not everyone reading Wikipedia is a native English speaker. Although some of your delinking may be OK, I did not feel like disentangling the wheat from the chaff that your autoeditor produced. I appreciate your efforts in trying to improve the article, but I believe that it was better before. —Nelson Ricardo (talk) 17:35, 4 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, in case you have the time, I'm making a general request hoping that someone can tidy my machine code translation of the Population Matters' article mentioned. (Ultimately I hope to move the article to "População é importante" or whatever might be the best translation of "Population (as a subject) is important"). The article is currently up for deletion so I'm contacting a few potential translators. Please check: W:pt:Population_Matters&action=history to avoid wasting time. If the article is deleted I would still appreciate its development at w:pt:Usuário(a):Gregkaye/Testes. Any help with any population related article would also be appreciated. Your GA nomination of Caldas da Rainha

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Caldas da Rainha you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. This

  • "The advantage of redirects over piped links is that they allow us to determine which pages link to the given topic using Special:WhatLinksHere" - MOS:RDR
  • "Per Link specificity above, do not use a piped link where it is possible to use a redirected term that fits well within the scope of the text." - MOS:NOPIPE
  • "It is generally not good practice to pipe links simply to avoid redirects. The number of links to a redirect page can be a useful gauge"... - WP:NOPIPE

Don't merely say these rules don't support removing pipes, because then your actions can be counted as nothing but disruptive editing (see Wikipedia:Disruptive editing).--ɱ (talk) 05:06, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Whatever. Just ignore that the MOS is written by imperfect humans. Redirects are ugly, and I am compelled to click the Article tab to get rid of the redirect message whenever a sloppy writer has linked to a redirect page. Nelson Ricardo (talk) 05:49, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Local administrative unit moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Local administrative unit, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hi, I came across the discussion thread you started in the Traveller's Pub at Wikivoyage, and I think it's a great initiative! Adding Wikivoyage links to Wikipedia articles definitely is a good way to increase visibility, too, but I have noticed that this is often done inconsistently or improperly. For example, it appears Wikivoyage has the tendency to delete pages of destinations but not remove the links from Wikipedia articles. There is currently no bot that seems to catch this, so there are plenty of dead links to Wikivoyage because the corresponding articles no longer exist. Some examples are Gunib, Shipka, Buynaksk etc. All of those seem to have had Wikivoyage articles at some point in time.

Of course all those dead links make a poor impression, at the very least they indicate a lack of synchronisation/collaboration between Wikivoyage and Wikipedia.

The 3 example articles above are "real" places that can be visited, so if there is not sufficient travel content to fill an article with, could they be redirected rather than deleted? All of the examples have Wikivoyage articles in other languages already, so maybe translation could help as a temporary placeholder rather than deleting articles? Generally if an article exists on a Wiki in other languages, it's better to translate than to delete, because this has the tendency of re-creating pages over and over again but losing the article history every time.

If you are active on Wikivoyage, could you please raise this issue in the Traveller's Pub discussion thread?

Keep up the good work and all the best, ArticCynda (talk) 20:02, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Wes Moss for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Wes Moss is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wes Moss (2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.

Notice

The article RiverSource has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:NCORP. Insufficient independent in-depth sources to establish notability. Tagged for notability issues for years.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
