I don't think you should have moved the original article to the older species' location. I think that should have remained as the genus article, as the information in it applies more broadly. I've proposed that the contents be merged back to the genus article. - UtherSRG (talk) 11:18, 20 May 2024 (UTC)

Watermarked images
Hi - please don't add watermarked images to articles, as you did at Danio jaintianensis and several others. We really don't want images with big copyright labels in mainspace; it goes against the very idea of free reusability of image material on WP. I removed these previously under exactly that consideration. Cheers --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 11:05, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
- Oh sorry about that, I didn't know. Thanks for pointing it out. Bloopityboop (talk) 19:57, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
Bothriechis species articles
Hi, thanks for creating these articles. A few points:
- Use
{{Speciesbox}}for the taxobox for a species. It uses the taxonomy template for the genus to determine the classification. Only in very, very exceptional circumstances do we create taxonomy templates for species. - If you are categorizing, e.g., Bothriechis rasikusumorum in Category:Bothriechis, always use a category key – in this example, put
[[Category:Bothriechis|rasikusumorum]]at the end of the article. - It's good to add a taxonbar; look at the examples I've edited. You get the 'qid' from Wikidata. Don't worry about this at first, though.
Lots to learn, but never be discouraged! Peter coxhead (talk) 15:49, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know! Can I ask, what are the sort of circumstances where we create taxonomy templates for species? Bloopityboop (talk) 22:26, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
- See the articles in Category:Taxonomy templates for species. Basically it's when the species name has to be displayed in some highly non-standard way, like "Coelosaurus" antiquus. Peter coxhead (talk) 10:00, 25 September 2024 (UTC)

Hello Bloopityboop -- I've declined this, as generally useful redirects are not deleted without a discussion; you are welcome to create an article on the subject in situ or, if you really want the article "credit", write a draft in userspace/draftspace and ask someone to move it for you at Wikipedia:Requested moves. - Thank you, will do Bloopityboop (talk) 11:45, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
- Just happened upon this and was about to send it to RfD, as we really shouldn't have redirects from species to genus for valid recent species; then decided that I might as well make a proper stub out of it instead. So, sorted I hope. Cheers --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 12:53, 26 January 2025 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion
hello to one and all. Hope you all are having great time. I moved a draft of mine to the encyclopedia. Today, I was informed it will be deleted immediately for two reasons. first being, it wasnt notable enough and didnt had enough citations and source links. Second being, there was the same draft in fa.wp. The one in fa.wp draft was done by me and it hasnt been published,as I have to edit it. So, If I post my current article in fa.wp, will one of my problems be fixed? How can I fix the speedy deletion problem and how can I make my draft seem more notable and sourceful linked with citations. This is my first article on wikipedia so I will be so thankful for any help and guide. Mamadkoli (talk) 17:53, 17 March 2025 (UTC)

You may revert my edits, but please not not substitute my chosen crops with some random crop that you prefer. I choose my crops with care and submit them to Commons FP how I like them. Sometimes I chnage the crop if a majority approve. Please use the Wikipedia crop template and not edit the photo itself. Charlesjsharp (talk) 22:41, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
- My crops are not done for aesthetic reasons. Its usually to make it fit better on the page, or because the subject is otherwise too small to see clearly when previewed on the page, or very occasionally, to center the subject. Additionally, the crop template doesn't work very well for infoboxes, as it leaves a fairly noticeable bar of blank space. But duly noted, and rest assured I won't crop your photos anymore. Thanks for the notice. Bloopityboop (talk) 22:49, 22 November 2025 (UTC)

Images
Hello - on my talk page, you asked: "I noticed that when editing Anna's hummingbird, you changed the gallery format from packed to traditional. Can I ask why, for future reference? I often use packed galleries, so I would like to know if there are situations where I shouldn't use them."
I'm not aware of firm rules, but rather editor preferences for using images for emphasis in educational value determine whether one uses packed vs. a typical gallery.
For that particular article where there are already several clear pictures of male and female birds in the infobox and right margin, a packed gallery typically has larger, centered images, and may be a place for editors to make "albums" of unrelated images (see WP:NOTGALLERY), creating image dominance in the section, MOS:IMAGES. The gallery format allows for grouping smaller, miscellaneous images, which should still bear significance for uniqueness of information. Zefr (talk) 07:00, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
