On the Wikipedia:Unblock Ticket Request System there seems to be a glitch. When you go to https://utrs-beta.wmflabs.org/public/appeal/account it says: "On the next page, you will be issued a Appeal Key. Keep it in a safe place. If you forget it, you are able to recover it, but only if your Wikimedia Account has a valid email address. DO NOT SHARE this key with anyone."

I actually tried opening an appeal this way, but I lost my appeal key - it did not save in the notepad text file I tried to paste it into. So when I went back and try to find a "Recover Appeal Key" link or guide nothing existed - similar to how you try to login to Gmail for example and they have a forget password link. I could not find anything for the appeal key so I never figured out how to get my appeal key back eventhough the website indicates there is a way but does not explain how or provide a link (maybe its there I just overlooked it). -4vryng talk 13:14, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

i was always able to edit ... and suddenly, i'm blocked! as i lack a computer, i may only communicate via cellphone. additionally, i'm not technical and fail to comprehend most of the advice, suggestions, etc. i'd just like to aid wikipedia in being the best it can be. please advise — thank you! If you could edit this page, you aren't blocked. This isn't the page to make inquiries as to a block- this is for discussing the operation of the unblock ticket system. Please direct further questions to the Help Desk. If you are blocked, there should be instructions provided on your user talk page. 331dot (talk) 08:14, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Jdhfox

If Jdhfox or any socks show up at UTRS, please expire the ticket and email the link to User:AmandaNP or User:JJMC89 or me with a UTRS ban request. If they offer a threat of violence, please email the link to emergency@wikimedia.org with details of the threat. Thanks, -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 04:24, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It would be best to send 1 ticket to the admin queue to request action instead of getting lost in emails. -- Amanda (she/her) 07:54, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Nope. That gives them the recognition they crave and gives them something to chew on. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 14:14, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also, Security through obscurity -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 14:15, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have no idea what you are getting at. Im talking about an admin side only comment on a single appeal and then sending to the admin queue. They can't see what is written. Even then, this thread alone discloses it more to them than anything. Please also either reply here OR email me. I get duplicate notifications when you do both. -- Amanda (she/her) 15:03, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Re-review

Could another admin please give #109805 a second look? I've just declined it per NLT, but now I'm wondering if it requires some other action, either in addition to or instead of declining. Ta, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:30, 9 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, the decline was appropriate. If the legal threat happens again, I'd support revoking UTRS access. Frankly, this person is just trying to waste our time. --Yamla (talk) 11:02, 9 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Send 'm to legal if it recurs. legal@wikimedia.org -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 13:01, 9 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
This might serve Legal threats. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 13:09, 9 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
If by some miracle, they wish to retract the legal threat, they'll need UTRS to do so. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 13:12, 9 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
In my limited experience with legal matters, once the person goes legal, any further contact should be through attorneys instead of directly with the other party. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 13:15, 9 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Deepfriedokra: I looked for a NLT template, but couldn't find one. I'm assuming what you're linking to there is one (I can't actually see it, I get 403), in which case was that there all along or did you just make it now? -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:20, 9 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Just made it. If the link here does not work, it's #9. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 14:08, 9 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Verboten!. Sie dürfen nicht. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 14:22, 9 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
