The result was no consensus and no indication one is going to emerge with established editors disagreeing on the existence v. findability of sufficient sourcing. Bio of a footballer where most of the content is unsourced. Both sources in the article indicate that the subject was not n the team that won the Africa cup of nations in 2004 so there is literally nothing here that is sourced. A search for sources is complicated by the fact that there’s a Saudi player of the same name, but I don’t see in-depth coverage of this subject. Articles on other wikis are just sourced to databases. - Keep - he won AFCON, the premier tournament in Africa. Really poor nomination. GiantSnowman 12:59, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
- Keep—Bad article, but certainly a notable player. Anwegmann (talk) 03:10, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
- Delete - I couldn't find any SIGCOV in Arabic- or French-language sources for Azaiez. He did make a single appearance for Tunisia at the 2004 AFCON, but it was in a final group stage match after Tunisia clinched progress after winning its first two group stage matches and fielded a largely reserve side in that match. I found that he also played in a single AFCON qualifier (according to RSSSF), but otherwise only appeared in a handful of friendlies. We can't really say much else about this footballer as there are no other online sources available. Jogurney (talk) 19:50, 13 January 2025 (UTC)

- Keep - Per GiantSnowman and Anwegmann. Played 50+ pro games in Tunisian top flgiht and won AFCON. Deifnityl has offline sources. Article needs improvement, not deletion. Thanks, Das osmnezz (talk) 11:41, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
- Comment. All Africa has something behind a paywall. Google gives the preview "Avec un goal d'expérience, le capitaine Khaled Azaiez, et un attaquant virevoltant et adroit comme Ettayeb, le Club Africain peut compter", meaning "With an experienced goalkeeper, captain Khaled Azaiez, and a skilful and agile striker like Ettayeb, Club Africain can count on". In other words, while that is a WP:PASSING mention, it states that Azaiez was not just a squad player for Club Africain, but captain. Geschichte (talk) 12:53, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
- Redirect to 2004 African Cup of Nations squads#Tunisia – As WP:ATD. If new sources are found, I change my vote. Svartner (talk) 15:27, 22 January 2025 (UTC)
- Keep - over 50+ pro games. WP:GNG applies as well.BabbaQ (talk) 20:03, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
- Keep former AFCON winner and goalkeeper manager. Because it was 20 years ago in Tunisia I'm having difficulty searching but he is clearly well known in Tunisia: [1] also passing mentions from as far south as South Africa. SportingFlyer T·C 21:01, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
- Redirect. We have a requirement that sportsperson articles cite a source of SIGCOV, with no exceptions for time period or location. There are also a number of online sources covering his teammates, so it's not like finding coverage would be impossible. My own searches in Arabic turned up nothing besides interviews/stats/passing mentions (like
Abdelkader Keita passed the ball to his brother Fadhel Keita, who shot into the net of goalkeeper Khaled Aziz, scoring the only goal of the match in the 32nd minute
[2]) and stuff on the Saudi player, and neither the passing mention in the AllAfrica piece nor the passing mention in an interview count towards GNG or SPORTCRIT. As noted several times above, the player did not play on the AFCON-winning final squad. JoelleJay (talk) 01:21, 26 January 2025 (UTC)- No, he absolutely played for the AFCON-winning team, that is not in question. And perhaps we've reached a point where we've absolutely screwed up sports biographies to the point where we can't use common sense anymore. There's absolutely no question he should appear in an encyclopedia. SportingFlyer T·C 05:34, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
- The other thing I've been thinking about - recently we've had some players who should be obviously notable but we haven't quite found SIGCOV in the American feature article context. These players are from the early internet/pre-internet stage from non English speaking countries. Their mentions in modern media clearly show they were "worthy of note." For instance, Azaiez not only won AFCON, he started in a Tunisian cup final, and in semi-finals of the African Champions League, which are all notable accomplishments. He's listed on the club's Facebook as a club legend for the largest, most successful, and widely supported club in Tunisia. And? We can source all that! (Except, well, the Facebook bit.) So I'm not really that concerned we haven't found a retrospective internet-era article on him from a notability standpoint... SportingFlyer T·C 15:45, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
