Infobox military exercise
Regading {{Infobox military exercise}}, it sounds like you want to overhaul the template to add new information and make it more useful... Can I help in anyway? I'm pretty good with infoboxes, one of my few talents... Anyway, if you want to team up I'm happy to help! - Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 07:27, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
- I am wondering if we should make a more general exercise infobox though.
- For example, Clade X was an exercise about pandemics.
- There are other exercises that other government departments and even businesses do. Guylaen (talk) 21:05, 5 November 2025 (UTC)
- How would you like to do this? Do you want to provide me with a list of values/parameters and I'll build the code? What would work best for you? Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 03:51, 13 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Zackmann08, sorry for the extreme lack of communication about this on my part. We just did Cyber 9/12 here at MIIS – I wasn't on a team, but I had to be available if they needed me to fold down tables. Last week I had a French conversational midterm, and then I had to go up to LLNL to visit the NIF, so a bunch of my time was spent on that. Today, I had to meet with Vladimir Norov and catch up on Central Asian issues. (I was surprised at his positive attitude about Trump and now my brain hurts). Next week I have to run the CCPCJ for Northwest Model United Nations (NWMUN).
- Basically, all that to say that life is busy, but I suppose I did that to myself. I'm the one who wanted to stop working in kitchens, after all.
- Anyways. YES. That would work. Guylaen (talk) 04:52, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
- HAHA! No worries. Real life does get in the way sometime. The nice thing is there is no deadline here... Whenever you get the time, start mocking something up and I'm happy to work with you when it works in your schedule. No rush! Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 05:03, 18 November 2025 (UTC)

I have sent you a note about a page you started
Hi Guylaen. Thank you for your work on Halloween Massacre of 1977. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
Thanks for this short article for an event demonstrating sustained coverage. It is clearly written, and appropriately supported from reliable sources.
To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Klbrain}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)
Klbrain (talk) 01:41, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- @Klbrain: Thank you for the message but I should defy that it's a stub, not a short article. There are at least a thousand more words worth of history surrounding this event that I don't have the time to write up at the moment.
- To me, a good article is at least the length of the Lord of the Rings... I joke, but still. I hate short articles. Guylaen (talk) 06:49, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- I'm very happy to accept that criticism; I was being generous, as I tend to be in new page patrol reviews. Happy expanding! Klbrain (talk) 15:26, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- No, I appreciate the kindness, genuinely. I like a fun place.
- I suppose I vented a little hard in your direction there: the underlying subconsciousness there is that I just am confused why there are so many wikipedians in the world, but it seems few writers here in this genre willing to follow my stubs and make them better, not just by correcting grammar or deleting stuff, but by getting sucked into the subject and contributing more content.
- Unless something was in a movie or a TV show, doesn't seem to be very popular. Anyways, sorry for the unpleasantness I threw at you. Guylaen (talk) 20:18, 23 December 2025 (UTC)

December 2025
Hello, I'm HKLionel. I noticed that you have been adding short descriptions to articles. However, the short descriptions you added are too long to be effective, such as at Research and Analysis Branch. The guideline is that short descriptions should ideally be under 40 characters long, and no longer than needed. For more information, see the short description guidelines. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you. it's lio! | talk | work 11:28, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
- I should have guessed there was a style guide for short descriptions, although I never really thought about it. Thank you for your correction. It is hard to be accurate in 40 characters, but I will attempt. Guylaen (talk) 20:23, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
- I know, so it's not really a rule set in stone, just a standard to aim towards. Accuracy is important, yes, but being helpful to the reader is even more so, which excessively long SDs aren't. Happy editing, it's lio! | talk | work 00:43, 24 December 2025 (UTC)

Operation SUSSEX
In the category of great minds think alike, three or four days ago I noticed there was no article about Operation Sussex. I was gathering material to create an article -- when suddenly I discover you had just created an article. It's kind of weird that two of us had the same idea at the same time for such an obscure topic. Anyway, good work -- and I'm actually glad you've relieved me of feeling an obligation to create the article. Smallchief (talk) 12:09, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- Chief! That fills me with joy for you to say that, I love your work here. Yeah, I was brought to the page after writing OSS/London.
- But I would love it if you could expand the page, you've made a lot of great articles, and I would enjoy seeing what you can dig up about SUSSEX, maybe from some places that I haven't thought of. Do you think that Operation PROUST should have its own page or should just be redirected to SUSSEX?
- I'm working on Kenneth Cohen at the moment, and I will probably write Z Organisation next – obviously a Yank created the redirect for Z Organization, because that's not how Brits write that word. (I'm a Yank, I just refuse to use the word "American" because it's literally not a demonym for someone from this State of states). After that, canceling the redirect for Operation Greenup, and making it its own page. After that, will probably write Operation FAUST and the TOOL missions and... so on.
- If you want to take any of these articles, let me know.
- Also, please check out Template:Office of Strategic Services and let me know if anything is missing. Guylaen (talk) 13:02, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- Your Sussex article is great and much more in-depth than my usual effort. I have no plans to work on any OSS-related articles, so have at it! I'll let you know if I might be crossing paths with something you're in the midst of doing. Smallchief (talk) 07:53, 6 January 2026 (UTC)

Backstory
Since you've been doing so much work on the Claude Dansey article, I thought you might be amused to know that I only started the article in the first place because of an offhand mention of Dansey in one of Charles Stross's Laundry stories.
"By the abjuration of Dee and the name of Claude Dansey I hereby exercise subsection D paragraph sixteen clause twelve and bind you to service from now and forevermore." DS (talk) 22:27, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
- It's crazy he did so much, and yet his obituary in the New York Times was only like eight sentences long!!!! He took his secrets to the grave. Thank the gods other people didn't.
- The only problem with most of his biographical material being written after he died is that he didn't have the chance to defend against the accusations about the Prosper Network and Delacort. Guylaen (talk) 22:31, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
- And there are mixed reviews about Colonel Z, but the only ones I care about are the ones by the people who worked at the agency, and they say its mostly accurate with only minor errors like names and dates – as is to be found in basically every history of the SIS. Did you know they didn't even publicly acknowledge their existence until 1992‽‽‽‽‽
- Anyways, yeah, I just needed a break from his world for a bit. I got very interested in North Borneo after writing that section so I'm making the page for the constabulary now. Guylaen (talk) 22:34, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
