This article has numerous uncited paragraphs, including the entire "Hymn to United Nations" section. At over 9,000 words, WP:TOOBIG suggests that it might be eligible to be trimmed, and the lead (with six paragraphs) might be a good place to start. Z1720 (talk) 07:49, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
Change of tone in the third paragraph
The line "The UN has been recognized as a leader of peace and human development, with many officers and agencies having been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, but has also been criticized for perceived ineffectiveness, bias, and corruption" could be edited to maybe add quotation marks to the criticism part? These aren't really all facts, so I think changing it to "...but has also been criticized for "perceived ineffectiveness, bias, and corruption"" could be a nice change of tone. The UN made the decision that Western Sahara is now Moroccan territory, please change the map where the gray area is apart of Morocco. 196.74.235.215 (talk) 19:38, 2 November 2025 (UTC)

- If the UN disagrees with the loss/renunciation, one is obliged to consider the consequences.Wikiuser34566787 (talk) 14:48, 16 December 2025 (UTC)

- The Republic of China (Taiwan) is recognized as an "Observer State" by the United Nations. Only the opposition of the People's Republic of China (China) has prevented member status. Neither government officially recognizes the legitimacy of the other. Mediatech492 (talk) 20:21, 21 November 2025 (UTC)

Add a footnote about Western Sahara, attached to where it says "Member states of the United Nations" similar to what it says on the page for Spain (note B on that page). Both Spain and the United Nations hold the view that it is de jure part of Spain, which makes it part of the UN by extension. ~2025-38861-99 (talk) 20:24, 6 December 2025 (UTC)
Not done: the United Nations considers Western Sahara an Non-Self Governing Territory, or NSGT. Since 1976, Spain has had no presence within the territory of Western Sahara and doesn't have any international responsibility over the territory. Thus, the UN doesn't consider Spain to be the governor of the territory anymore, despite the de jure control. More recently, the Security Council adopted a resolution (S/RES/2797(2025)) that endorses Morocco's proposal for negotiations with a goal of Morocco receiving control over the territory while granting Western Sahara autonomy over local matters. If such negotiations succeed, it would become Moroccan territory and would then be part of the UN. IsCat (talk) 21:09, 6 December 2025 (UTC)
