Meaning of the name
So, could anybody point to the reason behind the name "Forty-fours"? Did they originally think there were 44 islands, but have since upped the number? Trafford09 (talk) 18:50, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Trafford09: My guess is that it reflects their lattitude. You would need to find a reference for this before entering in though. Andrewgprout (talk) 22:35, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
Ah - good points! Thank you. Trafford09 (talk) 10:37, 23 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Trafford09: German Wiki has the answer since 2017, the Russian one since 2009. Usually if there is a try to be not monocultural—then the answer is close. Especially regarding colonies. ; )
I was wondering if I find a source for it, it took a few seconds—even if the nowadays' Google kinda destroyed with artificial intelligence. Thank God we are still allowed to use the natural one. At least in Europe. : D

Have you ever noticed the small "44ºS" on the end of our logo? It stands for the 44th parallel south which is a circle of latitude that is 44 degrees south of the Earth's equatorial plane and passes through the Chatham Islands. The Forty-Fours are a group of islands about 50 km's east of the main island. Motchuhar in Moriori and Motuhara in Māori it is the easternmost point of New Zealand.
