2nd Mobile Brigade Combat Team
Sometime during summer 2024 the division's 2nd Brigade Combat Team was renamed 2nd Mobile Brigade Combat Team. Since then the army website only refers to the brigade with the new name. See the google search results for army.mil. Stars and Stripes also refers to the brigade with the new name. As does dvids hub. noclador (talk) 20:16, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
101st Airborne Background Trimmings
Are the background trimmings for Infantry Brigade HHC's correct? The Brigade HHC's do not share a lineage with the regiments that form the Brigades. They should go back to the old Division Trimmings with notches to denote Brigade. 74.77.33.153 (talk) 18:34, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
- They have all been verified with official images posted on the 101st Facebook page, and various other DoD websites. Here is one example of the 2nd Mobile Brigade Combat Team commander being interviewed at a D-Day remembrance ceremony: https://www.446aw.afrc.af.mil/News/Air-Force-Video/videoid/925843/
- Here is a full-resolution image from that interview: https://d1ldvf68ux039x.cloudfront.net/thumbs/frames/video/2406/925843/DOD_110349906.0000021/2000w_q95.jpg
- The trimming you are referring to use to be worn by each brigade HHC, but the 82nd and the 101st Airborne Divisions brigade HHCs made the switch not too long ago (I don't know exactly when).

- That photo from the Remembrance Ceremony also shows the use of the "Airborne Insignia" which hasn't been authorized to wear since the July 1st, 2002 edition of AR 670-1. I have to wonder how "Official" guidance this is. The Division has also been apparently approved to wear Beret Flashes as well, even though that guidance would appear to be inconsistent with AR 670-1.
- Here is a photo fromt he Division's Flickr account with MP's with a Beret Flash similar to the Division HHBn https://www.flickr.com/photos/101stabdivaa/54598558426/in/album-72177720326973104
- This should also suggest the 716th MP BN should have the Division Background Trimming

- When it comes to the 82nd Airborne, TIOH at least recognizes that the Beret Flashes and Background Trimming belong to the Brigade and not the Regiments (even if Historically they belong to the Regiments and not the Brigades)

- Here is the Beret Flash & Background Trimming for 508th Infantry Regiment
- Unfortunately the HHC, 101st Airborne Division (and HHC, Brigades), 327th Infantry Regiment, 502nd Infantry Regiment , & 187th Infantry Regiment have not been uploaded to the TIOH site. And for the 82nd, you could certainly argue that since the Brigades have the Beret Flash & Background Trimming, officially the 504th Infantry Regiment, 325th Infantry Regiment & 505th Infantry Regiment (The 508th is only missing a Regimental HQ Insignia which they can't use the same as 4th Brigade, 82nd Airborne insignia) since do not currently possess a Regimental Beret Flash & Background Trimming. 74.77.33.153 (talk) 20:33, 26 June 2025 (UTC)

- On the topic if beret flashes, I have worked hard to develop and keep the "United States military beret flash" article up to date, to include the 101st new use of organizational beret flashes. I cannot find anything authorized their use, but the 101st did wear them during the 250th Army Birthday Celebration in DC, marching in-front of senior leaders and POTUS with their organizational beret flashes in full display. Same thing happened at the 101st change of command ceremony, that was overseen by the XVIII Airborne Corps commander who said nothing about the wear of these various organizational beret flashes. I do not see anyone in the Army pushing back on the 101st over this, and I am paying attention. --McChizzle (talk) 21:05, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
- I guess there is something to be said for what is "Authorized" and what is "Allowed" in the Army. Similar to Cav Hats never having official approval, but worn to many functions within the Army. 74.77.33.153 (talk) 12:40, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
