Lauren Markham is an American journalist and writer.

Markham graduated from Vermont College of Fine Arts.[1] She was an editor at Virginia Quarterly Review[2][3] and her work appeared in Mother Jones.[4]

Markham teaches at Ashland University, St. Mary’s College of California, and the University of San Francisco.[5] Her book A Map of Future Ruins was the runner-up for the 2025 Dayton Literary Peace Prize for non-fiction.[6]
