Law enforcement officials have claimed to two different sources that former President Donald Trump was not grazed by a bullet but rather by glass shards.

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

Hello - help on systemic bias?

Hi Pecopteris - are you still active on Wikipedia? Would it be possible to get some personal advice on how to address systemic bias on wikipedia?

I saw your comments offering to organize the countering-systemic-bias project, and I found that project while looking to see if there were any projects of this kind after noting that Wikipedia:systemic_bias specifically notes that it is aware of its demographic challenges and the bias that results in editing the work.

I was active on wikipedia a long time ago, but lost access to my original account. I've been intermittently active, but recently reactivated when I was horrified to get a one-paragraph answer from a Google assistant that reflected a massively biased perspective on acupuncture. The talk archives reflect further bias and many illogical arguments from the editors camping there -- all of whom are 'average wikipedians'. Acupuncture is kind of a perfect storm of bias vulnerability, because it is used primarily for conditions that impact women more than men (chronic fatigue, chronic pain) and is non-western in origin (and experiences a lot of racial bias as a result).

I am trying to enlist help from senior wikipedians in how to engage with this and follow proper procedures in having bias in the page addressed. I am in way over my head on this but I want to believe in wikipedia and not be one of the 85% of women who give up. Can you help? 3rdspace (talk) 02:03, 9 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
