Happy New Year
Question from MiekMe (21:34, 18 November 2025)
Hi Gnoeee. You've been assigned to me as Wikipedia mentor.
Strange question. I suggested having an experimental Wikipedia edit sprint at a math conference. However, I am not a very experienced Wikipedian myself. I assume/hope that it is OK to coordinate and document the sprint's activities from a user space page as here: User:MiekMe/FAOTSA2025. It would be most useful to use the same platform as a sandbox for novice Wikipedians.
Any advice or suggestions for this experiment will be very welcome, maybe on the experiment's talk page User talk:MiekMe/FAOTSA2025.
First edit anniversaries
Hey, Gnoeee. I see you have just sent out a big bunch of "Happy First Edit Anniversary" congratulations. Semi-automated, I suppose, considering the timestamps. That's nice, for the people who're still here, but it's kind of depressing for those who have left the project and especially for their friends. My good friend Thomas.W is one of them; he last edited eight months ago. Could you please check these things, before you congratulate people who have actually become disenchanted with Wikipedia and left? Obviously it would take longer that way, but it would be more personal, more valuable, and less like a bot. Bishonen | tålk 09:52, 17 December 2025 (UTC).
- Hello @Bishonen. I hope you're doing well. The idea comes around my small thought Wikipedia@25. The messages are generated automated, but it's not sent automatically. I personally visit each user's talk page and leave the message manually. While I do, I use a list based on the quarry to help identify active users (last 1 year) and I use a script to wish the anniversary message. That said, I understand how this could feel discouraging in some cases, and I’m sorry for any distress it may have caused. I'll keep your feedback in mind and be more mindful going forward.- ❙❚❚❙❙ GnOeee ❚❙❚❙❙ ✉ 10:20, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
- I must apologize; you've obviously given this much more thought and care than I realized, Gnoeee, and it's a fine initiative. Perhaps the "last edit one year ago" principle is a little long, though? Bishonen | tålk 12:46, 17 December 2025 (UTC).
- Thank you @Bishonen for your thoughtful feedback. I began by wishing users who had been active within the last three months, and then considered extending it to those who had edited at least once in the past 12 months and have a strong history of meaningful contributions. The intention is to acknowledge each and everyone's work in a respectful and considerate way. ❙❚❚❙❙ GnOeee ❚❙❚❙❙ ✉ 17:51, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
- You may wish to check people aren't under sanctions before sending such messages. Stuartyeates (talk) 19:10, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Stuartyeates. I do a basic check before posting, including avoiding messages where restrictions or blocks are in place, and I look for any relevant banners or notices on the user's talk page.- ❙❚❚❙❙ GnOeee ❚❙❚❙❙ ✉ 19:48, 23 December 2025 (UTC)

I would like to create a page for CodeTorch, a block coding platform. It has been around for a while and has no page or article. I want to create one but when I tried it got deleted. Can you help me make one? --DogandPerson85910 (talk) 22:47, 26 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @DogandPerson85910. I noticied that a draft article is already there. Could you try to improve the article and later submit the article for the review. There are lots of links available in the article mentioning how you can imrpove the article. Hope that helps.- ❙❚❚❙❙ GnOeee ❚❙❚❙❙ ✉ 05:57, 27 December 2025 (UTC)

Question from Publicmember on Trustee (17:19, 27 December 2025)
How can I attached my edits to “trustee” and “community property” made under a temporary account to this account? --Publicmember (talk) 17:19, 27 December 2025 (UTC)
- @Publicmember (talk page stalker) Sadly, there isn't a way to "officially" link contributions in a way where they would show up in your user contributions, but you can make an edit with the temporary account, leaving a message on your talk page stating that "I am "Publicmember"" or similar. Cheers! monkeysmashingkeyboards (talk) 15:50, 28 December 2025 (UTC)

Question from Tmworldview (19:38, 17 January 2026)
Hi Gnoee,
I hope you are doing well.
Thank you for the time and effort you put into mentoring new Wikipedia contributors. I’ve really enjoyed learning and contributing so far, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow within the community.
I had a couple of questions I was hoping you could help clarify.
I’ve contributed to the publishing of a few Wikipedia pages, and I’ve noticed that while some of them appear in Google search results, others do not. I was curious about what typically accounts for this difference.
Additionally, I’m interested in learning more about how page translation works on Wikipedia. It seems like a valuable way to contribute, and I’d love to understand how editors get involved in that process.
Thank you very much for your time. I look forward to your response. --Tmworldview (talk) 19:38, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
