Invitation to participate in a research
Hello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.
You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .
Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.
Kind Regards,
WMF Research Team

Emily Beecham photo
Background timeline :
- You made the 2017-Dec-20 edit updating the infobox image per a consensus at ANI after a contentious discussion originating at the Talk for the Emily Beecham article.
- A 2017-Dec-20 update by Winkelvi (now blocked since 2018-Nov-01) changed the photo to a cropped and retouched version of the one you changed it to, and after that reduced the thumbnail size. This remained the main infobox image for most of the time afterwards.
- A new 2024-Aug-03 edit was made by an IP user to what appears to be a B&W professional shot (some other edits by this IP user were reverted).
- A recent 2024-Aug-24 edit by Pandemonium91871 (permanently banned, Aug-26, for sockpuppeting) changed the photo to what appears to be the photo that was causing all the discussion before ANI in 2017. This edit is the current photo being used in the infobox for this article.
Am I correct that the current photo is the 2017 problematic photo that you would eventually replace per ANI discussion? — al-Shimoni (talk) 11:19, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Imeriki al-Shimoni, Apologies for the long delay in getting back to you,
- I've long forgotten this - I think this image was the one to use, I think this one was the problematic one?, But that's all guesswork, The second image is god awful so I have no idea why I reinstated it, I can only assume maybe at that time I caved in and said okay we'll use the second image, No idea but without a shadow of doubt this imho is the best image out of the 2, Thanks –Davey2010Talk 18:25, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

Hi, when you reverted my edit regarding Marcello's last name from Dentamaro to Spooks, someone else has since changed it back. So I am not the only one doing this. MSalmon (talk) 15:25, 16 November 2024 (UTC)

Incomprehensible edit summary on Golden Tours
Hi, Merry Christmas and all that, but I know you've seen that edit summary over on Golden Tours... any idea what that's about? I know I (and a few others) have my disagreements with some of your edits, but not only has that just come out of nowhere from some IP, why are they putting your username in the same run-on sentence as 'death penalty' and 'Pope John II'? Has the IP got a general vendetta against Wikipedia and gone to the first page they could find and banged out their angry comment, or are they specifically after you over some nonsensical disagreement? I don't know about you, but I'm just concerned for everyone involved. Hullian111 (talk) 22:16, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Hullian111, You may want to see the edit summaries at
- He jumps on a random IP, rambles on about god knows, gets blocked via SRG, comes back less than a second later on a new IP and yeah it's a repeated cycle,
- I have no idea who they are or why they're mad every day but I call him "the raging lunatic", I've tried reasoning with them in the past on more than one occasion but you just get the same nonsensical ramble,
- I can never make sense of what they're trying to say so I'm not bothered but yeah I think it's some sort of vendetta against Wikipedia for some reason, Really would love to know why though,
- Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 23:34, 23 December 2024 (UTC)

Change from MDY to DMY dates at Christmas
Hi, I am just wondering why you changed the date format from the long-established MDY to DMY at Christmas, including changing the "Use mdy dates" template to the "Use dmy dates" template? According to your edit comment, it is "as per MOS:DATEFORMAT", but I fail to understand how such a change is justified by that guideline? Maybe I am missing something here? Otherwise I think it should be changed back unless consensus can be established to change it. Thank you.McRandy1958 (talk) 08:07, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, My apologies I clicked the wrong one and didn't spot that I had, I've now changed it back, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 12:05, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
