Dead link
I am aware that one external link (to the site of JKFotografie&TV) has already died. It pointed to some good photos of conservator Fuhyi Kuo at work on the portrait. I have asked the proprietor of the site (the photographer's studio) for a new link or for the photos to be made available on Commons. Frans Fowler (talk) 23:25, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
Hals and Gotha in article title
I have put "Hals" and "Gotha" back in the title of the article. The painting itself hasn't got a title. (Dutch artists generally didn't give their paintings a title in the 17th century.) Various art historians, curators, and cataloguers have called this one various names. There are lots of portraits by Hals (and other artists) of unidentified sitters and lots of portraits by Hals (and others) of men in wide-brimmed hats, even if those attributes aren't necessarily mentioned in the pantings' names or Wikipedia article titles. The extra clues in the article title are to help the reader find the article they're looking for, whether this one or another. A more conventional name for the picture that would also make a title for the article might be "Portrait of a Man", to which might be added attributes such as the artist's name or the gallery where the work hangs, but that would be almost no help identifying it.
