Crack cocaine

The article says that "[crack cocaine] passes from the lungs directly to the central nervous system". That doesn't sound right and should be corrected. Jonasbull (talk) 21:42, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

solved. --CrispyCupcake (talk) 18:41, 10 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Lead

@CrispyCupcake: Thanks for your edits — I agree with most of them. However, I'm becoming concerned that the lead is getting too long. A few specific issues:

  • Excessive detail for a lead
    • Long lists of side effects and geographic distributions can be briefly summarized in the lead and expanded in the body.
  • Breaks encyclopedic structure
    • The lead should summarize key points, not fully explain all aspects. Think of it as an abstract.
  • Readability fatigue
    • Paragraph 3 (on health effects) is especially dense and might benefit from being condensed or split into simpler summaries.

Before adding more content to the lead, please ensure the added material is thoroughly covered in the main body of the article first, and also consider trimming other parts of the lead to maintain balance. Boghog (talk) 17:37, 26 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Boghog: I'll keep it under 3,000 readable characters, as that appears to be a suitable maximum compared to other articles. --CrispyCupcake (talk) 05:25, 2 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Concentration - meaning issues

In the lead, does concentration mean the mental awareness of something, or here it means the current embed?

It's confusing, so could someone clear this up? Batorang (talk) 14:20, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. Clearly in context it was meant to be one's ability to focus / pay attention, and not the amount/potency of a substance. Thoric (talk) 15:58, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The map (image 22/23) that shows that the entire united states has cocaine use decriminalized and completely legal in Oregon is incorrect, as it's still completely illegal in 49 US states (i.e., not decriminalized) and decriminalized only (not legal) in Oregon. I think the map should therefore be red (for illegal) across the US and yellow (for decriminalized) in Oregon. 152.27.19.253 (talk) 17:13, 7 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

First sentence of the “Crack cocaine” section is incomplete; it does not state for what purpose cocaine HCl needs to be heated to 197C. Add “in order to be smoked” 80.193.5.39 (talk) 22:17, 26 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
