"Additionally, Pakistani militant organizations, including the Tehrik-i-Taliban, vowed retaliation against the United States and against Pakistan for failing to prevent*ing* the American raid."

Title is outdated

Can change it from killing to “Assassination of Osama bin Laden” 2607:FEA8:425F:D600:DCF9:8139:118E:F7AC (talk) 18:06, 23 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I agree as well. Makes it seem like his death was a bad thing. 2600:1015:B084:64DF:14FB:BBAA:D52A:6765 (talk) 15:05, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I came to the talk page to see if anyone else had suggested this. This is (by definition) an assassination. wiglett (talk) 17:44, 14 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There was a long debate on this, including the definition of "assassination" and whether or not it applied here, in archive 3, and it was almost unanimously opposed on grounds of WP:NPOV. "Death" is a neutral term that doesn't favor one POV over the other. However long it's been is irrelevant. TheNomad416 (talk) 01:00, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

New factoid

In the American Manhunt documentary, ep 3, Leon Panetta says "we identified, by looking at the clothesline, how many members of the [third] family were living there" as part of how they did their assessment of how many people were resident in the home, which is an interesting detail I hadn't come across before. wanted to mention it here. Article is missing discussion of the legality of the killing

Aside from a passing mention in the lead section, the intricacies of whether this event constitutes an extrajudicial killing are not addressed in-depth. For the time being, I have added a source[1] that discusses this, but don't have the time to dig in deeper. I encourage others that are interested to try to eke out how this should be added, as in my view there are more than enough sources to provide a nuanced analysis.
