New page reviewer granted

Hi Lorraine Crane, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the new page reviewer user right to your account. This means you now have access to the page curation tools and can start patrolling pages from the new pages feed. If you asked for this at requests for permissions, please check back there to see if your access is time-limited or if there are other comments.

This is a good time to re-acquaint yourself with the guidance at Wikipedia:New pages patrol. Before you get started, please take the time to:

You can find a list of other useful links and tools for patrollers at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Resources. If you are ever unsure what to do, ask your fellow patrollers or just leave the page for someone else to review – you're not alone! signed, Rosguill talk 19:08, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Here are the key points:

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. Also, and sorry if this comes across as rude, but did you by any chance use a large language model/AI, such as ChatGPT, to write the article? Again, sorry if this seems a little invasive, but the formatting in the lead was a bit off in the first revision, and sentences in it such as Vegetarianism and veganism in the Philippines refer to dietary and lifestyle practices that exclude meat (vegetarianism) or all animal-derived products (veganism), as observed within the cultural, social, and economic context of the Philippines read very differently than sentences from elsewhere in the article, such as some of the contributing reasons for the reasons for the resistance of the Mainstream conversations about Veganism and vegetarianism is due to Filipino cuisine having a track record of adapting outside influence and making it uniquely Filipino dishes, this has been witnessed in Philippine history by Spanish, Chinese and American influences during each of their respective periods of colonization.. If you did use a LLM, that can be okay, but it's very strongly discouraged by a lot of Wikipedia editors because it can often introduce falsehoods or promotional wording. And it's important that you disclose it, if you do use a LLM like ChatGPT, so your fellow editors know what's going on. If you didn't, then please feel free to say too! GreenLipstickLesbian💌🦋 01:31, 4 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi GreenLipstickLesbian! I haven't used any LLM, however I did look into various other articles to get the idea on how to write lead sections properly. Perhaps this's why it looks a bit different from the rest of the article. I do realize that it still has a room for improvement. Lorraine Crane (talk) 21:50, 6 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

AFDs

Hello, Lorraine Crane,

It is very confusing when you argue "Delete and Merge" in an AFD discussion. If an article is deleted, it can't be merged. So, I don't know what weight to give your remarks since the action you are arguing for is impossible to carry out. Could you instead put "Merge and delete" if that is what you mean? Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 20:49, 24 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Oh , yes that is my intent, thanks for pointing this out! Cheers! Lorraine Crane (talk) 20:50, 24 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop saying "Delete and Merge" as you did in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dōkyūsei (video game series). It's a lot easier for you to say what you actually mean than for all of our discussion closers try to figure it out. We can't "Delete" and then "Merge" so either say "Delete" OR "Merge" OR "Merge then Delete" but please no more "Delete and Merge"s or I'll stop considering your opinion because you are either asking for the impossible to happen or just trolling here. Liz Read! Talk! 18:45, 30 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
To "Merge then Delete" as you suggested does make more sense now that you pointed this our more clearly, will adopt this here on out for similar cases. thank you for taking the time to help me improve in regards to contributing to the Wiki via AfDs discussions. Cheers! Lorraine Crane (talk) 22:27, 30 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Lorraine Crane,

PLEASE, please, please stop writing "Delete and then Merge". It is an impossible outcome. And it just causes me to ignore your opinion. I'm sure you don't spend time commenting on AFD discussions just to be dismissed so please, either write "Delete", or "Merge" or "Merge then Delete". But once an article is deleted, it can't be merged or redirected because there is no article any more! I'm sorry to be so frustrated but I've been editing Wikipedia for 12 years and have never run into this behavior before. Please do not make an argument for some action that can't be done, that is impossible. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:55, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello!! alright, I was actually trying to follow your advice, I must have misunderstood, so definitely only "Delete", or "Merge" or "Merge then Delete" for when the situation calls it. Much appreciate again for taking the time to help me improve. Lorraine Crane (talk) 11:36, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

New AfD

Hello @Lorraine Crane, here is the new AfD: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Thaiger, which you voted on in the previous AfD under the former name Phuket Gazette. I thought you might want to notice this new discussion because your previous vote supported recreating the article again with more sources. This is just a notice and not WP:CANVASS for voting. You can decline if you are not interested. Thanks. ManoiCMU (talk) 09:28, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the heads up , will have a review of the AFD to see if anything has changed. Lorraine Crane (talk) 14:18, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
