Telugu Cuisine
I see that you requested for the Telugu Cuisine article to be renamed to Andhra Cuisine.
I am the one who initially had it named to Telugu cuisine and I provided my rationale in the Talk Section of the page but I will reiterate it here:
The differences between the two cuisines are not consequential enough to warrant separate articles . There is a huge overlap in dishes which I think justifies including both states in one page.
What I am suggesting is not unprecedented either: The Wikipedia article for the “Tamil Cuisine” encompasses both the cuisines of Indian Tamils as well as Sri Lankan Tamils given the extensive overlaps. There are no pages for the “Tamil Nadu cuisine” or “Sri Lankan Tamil cuisine” or “Singaporean Tamil cuisine”.
Thus, instead of there being separate articles for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, I believe that there should be one article for both states and their respective sub-cuisines can be their own sections in the article.
For instance, the now-Andhra cuisine page has subsections for the Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema cuisines. I propose naming it back to “Telugu Cuisine” and including subsections for Telangana’s cuisines alongside those, such as the Palamuru cuisine.
Lastly, I already used quite a few Telangana-based sources for my citations for the Andhra cuisine article. Tyrone03 (talk) 00:12, 13 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Tyrone03,
- If the intention was to have a single page for Telugu cuisine instead of separate pages for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana cuisines, then the Telangana cuisine article should also have been made a redirect to "Telugu cuisine", just like the Andhra cuisine page was.
- It was misleading to have a dedicated, independent article for Telangana state cuisine while the Andhra cuisine page was renamed to Telugu cuisine.
- Since the article was moved but the Telangana article existed independently, if the intention is to maintain the title Telugu cuisine, then please ensure that both the Andhra & Telangana cuisine pages implement the same redirect strategy. Otherwise, it is illogical to have an independent Telangana page while the Andhra page is labeled "Telugu cuisine".
- Perhaps the best path forward is to wait for consensus from other users on this matter, as I now agree with the creation of a "Telugu cuisine" page, provided the treatment of the regional articles is consistent.
- Thank you, Vikckyy (talk) 06:25, 13 December 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, in hindsight, I should've made the Telangana page redirect to the Telugu cuisine as well and I agree that both states should be given equal weight for the Telugu cuisine.
- Another reason why I thought that both should be combined is because the article for the Telangana cuisine is very short and almost a stub. Tyrone03 (talk) 22:12, 13 December 2025 (UTC)
