The result of the move request was: Withdrawn. Points taken. Both USS Yorktown and the siege have significantly more pageviews, and no way does the town automatically trump both of those. Yorktown → Yorktown (disambiguation) – Yorktown, Virginia is the clear primary topic by views and long-term significance, as I have seen no evidence that York is ever called York Town. In line with USPLACE (though this might change in the near future), Yorktown should become a primary redirect to Yorktown, Virginia. Although naturally the Siege of Yorktown is sometimes referred to as just Yorktown, a hatnote will suffice. 🐔 Chicdat Bawk to me! 21:36, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- My impression is that USS Yorktown is the name of a number of highly notable ships that might be referred to merely as "Yorktown". BD2412 T 22:45, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- USS Yorktown (CV-10) and Siege of Yorktown both receive significantly more page views than the the town in Virginia and are commonly referred to as just "Yorktown". Wikinav suggests it's pretty even between the siege, town, and list of ships for visitors who end up on the disambiguation page. So likely would oppose based on what I see now.
