There are uncited statements, including an entire paragraph. The lead is quite long and I think it can be more concise. Z1720 (talk) 14:01, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
- Quick thoughts:
- Agree the lead is too long.
- The various tables using yellow and green make my eyes hurt and presumably fail MOS:ACCESS.
- MOS:SANDWICH violations everywhere.
- Significant problems in the references section, including an unreliable source tag, a failed verification, a full citation needed, and a permanent dead link. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 02:30, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
Athlete?
"one of the most famous athletes in modern history". I don't know if this has different connotations in America but, to me it seems fairly odd to call a golfer an "athlete". Could it be changed to "sportsmen"? 2A00:23C8:7B20:CC01:44A4:2508:B70B:43D9 (talk) 20:48, 13 April 2025 (UTC)
- A golfer is an athlete. Golf is one of the technicality wise hardest sports in the world. The immense training and practice Woods went through and his career achievements land him on a list of the top 10 athletes in history. 2601:240:D400:17D0:98A0:3FAC:A106:65F9 (talk) 21:18, 9 July 2025 (UTC)

In the "Career achievements" section, Rory McIlroy's name needs to be added to the list.
Change:
"Woods has spent the most consecutive and cumulative weeks atop the world rankings. He is one of five players (along with Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, and Jack Nicklaus) to have won all four major championships in his career, known as the Career Grand Slam, and was the youngest to do so.[186]"

The line: "Earl was born to African-American parents and was also said to have had European and Native American descent."
Should be change to: "Earl was born to African-American parents and was also said to be of European and Native American descent."
Currently the sentence doesn't really make sense. LorcanLuke (talk) 15:33, 6 May 2025 (UTC)

change third sentence of first paragraph to say "greatest male golfers of all time." Female golfers always get the "female" qualifier; why not men? 69.174.132.91 (talk) 03:01, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{Edit semi-protected}}template. Sources indicate him as the greatest, not just that he is the greatest amongst the male golfers, so I don't think the qualifier would be justified. But feel free to open a discussion here first, and if consensus agrees with you, the change can then be implemented. meamemg (talk) 13:58, 20 May 2025 (UTC)

Tiger is one of three people (not two) to be named Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year more than once (Tom Brady, LeBron James). ~2025-37597-59 (talk) 06:35, 14 December 2025 (UTC)
