My account has been unblocked. Perhaps you could be helpful with edits that would make this newly created page more factual and pertinent. It still has some factual errors. Errors I corrected, only to have wrong information restored. I appreciate your help.
Paragraph one. Annies and Oscars are not awarded the year of release in most cases. While Moana was released in 2016, my Annie was awarded in 2017, as I stated. So please restore that. It is a quite verifiable fact.
One need only check the 44th Annie Awards here on Wikipedia to see that is true: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/44th_Annie_Awards
My branch is now the "Animation Branch" in the Academy, not The "Short Films and Animated Feature branch. Either way, the branch name should be capitalized. My term as a governor has another year. It is a simple fact that I am one of two governors of that newly formed branch. This is old news here are sources: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/oscars-animation-and-short-films-branch-splits-1235836376/ https://www.indiewire.com/awards/awards/academy-awards-announce-new-short-films-feature-animation-branches-1234957589/ https://www.thewrap.com/oscars-creates-animation-live-action-shorts-separate-branches/
Though in any case, lower case is not the way it should appear.
Here is the set of AMPAS governors for the 2024-2025 term. My co-governor Bonnie Arnold has termed out. There are two governors of the Animation Branch for this term. You can see I am one of them. You might also note, as I have now pointed out multiple times, the newly elected Short Films Branch governor: Chris Tashima. Yet another source says that the Branch is now two branches. https://www.oscars.org/news/academy-elects-2024-2025-board-governors
Please change that entry to reflect that.
I see C.Fred has used my proper job titles in the opening paragraph. Appreciated.
Strange there’d be pushback on IMDB for the proper credits and job titles, as whoever fashioned this page to begin with obviously used that to create the wholly accurate filmography included on this page.
One more thing, could you remove my child's first name from the last paragraph. Tim is a minor.
Looking forward to seeing these corrections. Thanks a lot for your help. MarlonWest063 (talk) 23:47, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

Please provide contents of my deleted article
Hi Orangemike, You deleted my article at: User:ZenSunflower/sandbox1 for promotional content. I would like to re-edit and fix until the article meets wiki standards.
1. I need help retrieving the contents of my article because I did not back it up. 2. I also need help understanding what parts of my article make it look promotional.
Please help!!! ZenSunflower (talk) 02:46, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
- Out of courtesy, I will send you the deleted content. But it is promotional: a mewling, groveling hagiography of an advertisement, and has no place in an encyclopedia. I honestly don't think there are more than fifteen words and maybe one reference that could be salvaged. --Orange Mike | Talk 03:20, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
- OrangeMike,
- 1. Could you send me the entire contents of the deleted article? What I received was only a small part of it.
- 2. Could you please let me know of the one reference that is salvageable?
- Thank you! ZenSunflower (talk) 04:13, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
- 1. Done.
- 2. Upon further examination, the one which looked vaguely salvageable is in fact clearly not a reliable source. Every single source is either self-published or grossly violative of our neutral point of view requirements. --Orange Mike | Talk 04:59, 6 July 2024 (UTC)

Is 235 characters and 0.8% authorship of user M.Duffau, a major contribution to add that template? YBSOne (talk) 18:00, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- Sadly, we only have one COI template; and given the gravity of their COI, I gritted my teeth and used the template available to me. The COI edits are certainly the vast proportion of their contributions to this project. Also: how many characters is a logo equal to? --Orange Mike | Talk 18:03, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- I think Special:Diff/1248038448 this is what is left of those characters, as the other contribution was fully reverted. I would leave it as is, as it seems correct. YBSOne (talk) 18:07, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- My point is that the intent was to substitute an entirely new logo, which is a substantial change hard to quantify numerically. --Orange Mike | Talk 18:14, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- That part was reverted and new logo was uploaded by a different user. YBSOne (talk) 18:20, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- There are in fact two users (sock?) M.Duffau and Matteo G. CTS. One started just after the other. YBSOne (talk) 10:06, 1 October 2024 (UTC)

Invitation to participate in a research
Hello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.
You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .
Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.
Kind Regards,
WMF Research Team

User:CManon
Hi Orangemike. Would you mind taking a look at Special:Contributions/Cmanon? This user might be, at least based on their choice of username, Christian Manon. They've been advised as far back as 2010 by several users about how they at least have an apparent COI, but never responded at all. I also advised them about WP:REALNAME a few months back, but they didn't respond to that as well. The account went dormant shortly thereafter and I figured they might've have just moved on, but it recently started editing again. Perhaps one last request from an administrator might get them to at least clarify whether they are the subject of the article and just using their real name as their username or are someone else. -- Marchjuly (talk) 09:56, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for taking a look at this. -- Marchjuly (talk) 19:50, 28 October 2024 (UTC)

A certain Wikipedia user constantly adding wrong info
Hi, a user by the IP address 157.15.11.13 is constantly making incorrect changes to the page "Classical Languages of India". The user twice put the attestation date of the Sanskrit language as '5000 CE' whereas we are still in 2024 CE. Sanskrit being an ancient language has roots that go way back. This user has some personal agenda and has constantly made other incorrect edits with this '5000 CE' one being the latest. Can you please guide on what could be done to stop the user Rightmostdoor6 (talk) 17:05, 21 November 2024 (UTC)

Hi there! I noticed that you recently deleted Draft:Jeffrey Dahmer: Uncovering The Case For Innocence for having a promotional tone. Looking at the edit history, it looks like a speedy deletion tag had not been placed on the article, so I'm guessing you had decided the article should be deleted. Based on the editor's comments at Talk:Jeffrey Dahmer, I can understand the concern. However, it doesn't look like the editor was ever informed that their edits were promotional or that the article they created was being deleted. Please remember to communicate with editors in the future -- not only to be less bitey to newcomers but also to help other editors and administrators who may have concerns about the editor's actions in the future. Administrators' newsletter – March 2025
News and updates for administrators from the past month (February 2025).

- A request for comment is open to discuss whether AI-generated images (meaning those wholly created by generative AI, not human-created images modified with AI tools) should be banned from use in articles.
- A series of 22 mini-RFCs that double-checked consensus on some aspects and improved certain parts of the administrator elections process has been closed (see the summary of the changes).
- A request for comment is open to gain consensus on whether future administrator elections should be held.
- A new filter has been added to the Special:Nuke tool, which allows administrators to filter for pages in a range of page sizes (in bytes). This allows, for example, deleting pages only of a certain size or below. T378488
- Non-administrators can now check which pages are able to be deleted using the Special:Nuke tool. T376378
- The 2025 appointees for the Ombuds commission are だ*ぜ, Arcticocean, Ameisenigel, Emufarmers, Faendalimas, Galahad, Nehaoua, Renvoy, Revi C., RoySmith, Teles and Zafer as members, with Vermont serving as steward-observer.
- Following the 2025 Steward Elections, the following editors have been appointed as stewards: 1234qwer1234qwer4, AramilFeraxa, Daniuu, KonstantinaG07, MdsShakil and XXBlackburnXx.
Invitation to participate in research
Hello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of a group of Wikipedians to better understand their experiences! We are also looking to interview some survey respondents in more detail, and you will be eligible to receive a thank-you gift for the completion of an interview. The outcomes of this research will shape future work designed to improve on-wiki experiences.
We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this survey, which shouldn’t take more than 2-3 minutes. You may view its privacy statement here. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Kind regards, Sam Walton (talk) 16:35, 10 March 2025 (UTC)

Draftification of the Christopher J. Einolf article
I'm not in favor of increased restrictions on draftification, but I'm wondering why you thought it was appropriate to draftify an article that has
- no unsourced or poorly sourced content
- ample sources cited to demonstrate notability
I'ts not new either which according to more recent criteria is supposed to be an absolute bar to draftification. (t · c) buidhe 00:53, 21 March 2025 (UTC)
- There is still nothing there which constitutes a meaningful claim of notability, just a list of publications. I didn't want to simply nominate it for deletion, but it needs a lot of work. There is also almost no biographical content: where was this person born, what have they done besides teach, etc. --Orange Mike | Talk 13:42, 21 March 2025 (UTC)
- I'm surprised you can make it to 100,000 edits and not know about WP:NAUTHOR. All of the book reviews cited in the article count towards notability.
- Yes, it is better to AfD an article if you don't think it's notable, than try to do a backdoor deletion. This is exactly the kind of behavior that may get draftification banned entirely to the great detriment of NPPers. (t · c) buidhe 15:05, 21 March 2025 (UTC)
- I did not realize that your amazingly skeletal citations were references to reviews, rather than mere links to the works themselves. What the article needs is an explanation of why these works are relevant to the literature. "Veeblefetzer wrote this book about metal demangement" is not an assertion of notability; "Veeblefetzer wrote this book which has drawn new attention to the history of metal demangement during the 18th century, and started a debate on the topic among metallurgic historians" is an assertion of notability. Einolf's work looks interesting, and I look forward to a fleshed-out article about him. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:51, 21 March 2025 (UTC)
- An article being fleshed out is different from being main space ready, IMO. If it's a well sourced stub it belongs in main space so that other editors can find it and potentially flesh it out. (t · c) buidhe 00:36, 22 March 2025 (UTC)

Hello @Orangemike,
I have been diving into law firms/lawyers following the online call to action and was attempting to tidy up relevant information when I removed the piece on the article about a suspension - particularly due to a claim about “obtaining an advantage”? I don’t think this is relevant and would love your guidance on removing such content - particularly as I saw you were “considered to be a ‘deletionist’”
Appreciate the help

Interface administrator changes
- Following an RfC, administrator elections were permanently authorized on a five-month schedule. The next election will be scheduled soon; see Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections for more information. This is an alternate process to the RfA process and does not replace the latter.
- An RfC was closed with consensus to allow editors to opt-out of seeing "sticky decorative elements". Such elements should now be wrapped in {{sticky decoration wrapper}}. Editors who wish to opt out can follow the instructions at WP:STICKYDECO.
- An RfC has resulted in a broad prohibition on the use of AI-generated images in articles. A few common-sense exceptions are recognized.
- A New Pages Patrol backlog drive is happening in May 2025 to reduce the backlog of articles in the new pages feed. Sign up here to participate!
Tribute section
Please dont remove this section from Sunil Dutt. It took me so much time and i have researched it properly. Gooshh (talk) 19:57, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- When actors and politicians die, people say nice things about them. Such tributes are not considered reliable sources, and have no place here; and it is particularly absurd to include things said by the subject's own family. --Orange Mike | Talk 20:08, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- Then how should I designed it. But atleast don't remove the entire thing. Give me some time Gooshh (talk) 20:11, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
I understand your point. I will rectify it but give me some time. Gooshh (talk) 20:16, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- Look at recognized "Good Articles" on actors or politicians. I would also suggest finding other editors in India who are more experienced in this kind of thing. An article should not contain any material that suggests the editor was looking for praise, tributes, and compliments; but you keep adding that kind of thing back in. The chants resonated in the air by all the Congress party, the common people and communities like the Sikhs, Muslims and Hindus; Jab Tak Suraj Chand Rahega Sunil Dutt Tera Naam Rahega (As long as the sun and the moon exist, Sunil Dutt your name will remain) is embarrassing to read, much less to see in an encyclopedia article. We aren't talking about Mohandas Gandhi or even Vishram Bedekar here. --Orange Mike | Talk 20:21, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- Look sir, I have deleted it. I just want to fill the page of this person because other old celebrities pages where filled with full information and exaggerating points. I am not obssessed with anyone. I just felt that its a disgrace that Sunil Dutt's page has minimum information and not well researched. I just contributed kindly remove my name from Conflict Interests. Please Gooshh (talk) 09:44, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- But Sir i am new to wikipedia and wasn't aware about these things. Thank you for guiding me. I will take care of this in future. Please let me contribute Gooshh (talk) 16:30, 23 May 2025 (UTC)

I'm rather confused about this revert and the edit summary of sources are right there
. The sources currently in the article are single-line entries in post office listings, and a two-sentence description in a gazetteer. That doesn't add up to significant coverage, and I can't find anything more substantial in Google Books or Newspapers.com (the most I found was this). Per WP:GEOLAND, places without legal recognition aren't presumed to be notable and have to pass GNG, which this place does not appear to. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 05:33, 24 July 2025 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – August 2025
News and updates for administrators from the past month (July 2025).
- Following a request for comment, a new speedy deletion criterion, G15, has been enacted. It applies to pages generated by a large language model (LLM) without human review.
- Following a request for comment, there is a new policy outlining the granting of permissions to view the IP addresses of temporary accounts. Temporary account deployment on the English Wikipedia is currently scheduled for September 2025, and editors can request access to the permission ahead of time. Admins are encouraged to keep an eye on the request page; there will likely be a flood of editors requesting the permission when they realize they can no longer see IP addresses.
- Administrators can now restrict the "Add a Link" feature to newcomers. The "Add a Link" Structured Task helps new account holders get started with editing. Administrators can configure this setting in the Community Configuration page.
- The arbitration case Indian military history has been closed.
- South Asia (WP:CT/SA) is designated a contentious topic. The topic area is specifically defined as
All pages related to the region of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups.
- The contentious topic designations for Sri Lanka (SL) and India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan (IPA) are folded into this new contentious topic.
- The community-authorized general sanctions regarding South Asian social groups (GS/CASTE) are rescinded and folded into this new contentious topic.

Guide to temporary accounts
Hello, Orangemike. This message is being sent to remind you of significant upcoming changes regarding logged-out editing.
Starting 4 November, logged-out editors will no longer have their IP address publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account (TA) associated with their edits. Users with some extended rights like administrators and CheckUsers, as well as users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will still be able to reveal temporary users' IP addresses and all contributions made by temporary accounts from a specific IP address or range.
How do temporary accounts work?
- When a logged-out user completes an edit or a logged action for the first time, a cookie will be set in this user's browser and a temporary account tied with this cookie will be automatically created for them. This account's name will follow the pattern:
~2025-12345-67(a tilde, year of creation, a number split into units of 5). - All subsequent actions by the temporary account user will be attributed to this username. The cookie will expire 90 days after its creation. As long as it exists, all edits made from this device will be attributed to this temporary account. It will be the same account even if the IP address changes, unless the user clears their cookies or uses a different device or web browser.
- A record of the IP address used at the time of each edit will be stored for 90 days after the edit. Users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will be able to see the underlying IP addresses.
- As a measure against vandalism, there are two limitations on the creation of temporary accounts:
- There has to be a minimum of 10 minutes between subsequent temporary account creations from the same IP (or /64 range in case of IPv6).
- There can be a maximum of 6 temporary accounts created from an IP (or /64 range) within a period of 24 hours.
Temporary account IP viewer user right
- Administrators may grant the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right to non-administrators who meet the criteria for granting. Importantly, an editor must make an explicit request for the permission (e.g. at WP:PERM/TAIV)—administrators are not permitted to assign the right without a request.
- Administrators will automatically be able to see temporary account IP information once they have accepted the Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy via Special:Preferences or via the onboarding dialog which comes up after temporary accounts are deployed.
Impact for administrators
- It will be possible to block many abusers by just blocking their temporary accounts. A blocked person won't be able to create new temporary accounts quickly if the admin selects the autoblock option.
- It will still be possible to block an IP address or IP range.
- Temporary accounts will not be retroactively applied to contributions made before the deployment. On Special:Contributions, you will be able to see existing IP user contributions, but not new contributions made by temporary accounts on that IP address. Instead, you should use Special:IPContributions for this (see a video about IPContributions in a gallery below).
Rules about IP information disclosure
- Publicizing an IP address gained through TAIV access is generally not allowed (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 previously edited as 192.0.2.1 or ~2025-12345-67's IP address is 192.0.2.1).
- Publicly linking a TA to another TA is allowed if "reasonably believed to be necessary". (e.g.
~2025-12345-67 and ~2025-12345-68 are likely the same person, so I am counting their reverts together toward 3RR
, but not Hey ~2025-12345-68, you did some good editing as ~2025-12345-67) - See Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer § What can and can't be said for more detailed guidelines.
Useful tools for patrollers
- It is possible to view if a user has opted-in to view temporary account IPs via the User Info card, available in Preferences → Appearance → Advanced options →
Enable the user info card
- This feature also makes it possible for anyone to see the approximate count of temporary accounts active on the same IP address range.
- Special:IPContributions allows viewing all edits and temporary accounts connected to a specific IP address or IP range.

Request for lowered protection on Emmanuel Reinert
Hi there! This redirect has been full-protected since 2012, with no edits since. It has a pending FPER against it to fix a double-redirect. Do you think this would still be a target for disruption, and if not, could we consider lowering the protection on this? - Umby 🌕🐶 (talk) 04:16, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message
Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:17, 18 November 2025 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – December 2025
News and updates for administrators from the past month (November 2025).

- Starting on November 4, the IP addresses of logged-out editors are no longer being publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account associated with their edits.
- Administrators will now find that Special:MergeHistory is now significantly more flexible about what it can merge. It can now merge sections taken from the middle of the history of the source (rather than only the start) and insert revisions anywhere in the history of the destination page (rather than only the start).
