Pang Jian (Chinese: 庞健; born 1991) is a Chinese political dissident and prisoner of conscience. He was born in Baoding, Hebei Province of the PRC. Known online as "Jacob" and writing under the pen name "Gao Yang (Chinese: 高阳)," Pang is a member of the Union of Yuyencia independence (Chinese: 幽燕独立联盟) and a leading advocate of the Yuyen Independence Movement (Chinese: 幽燕独立运动), which seeks the independence of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region from China to establish an independent, self-governing state.

Pang Jian is a Catholic, with the baptismal name Jacob. Due to his anti-communist political views, involvement in anti-CCP activism, and advocacy against rural forced demolitions, he has been repeatedly persecuted by Chinese authorities. He was convicted of "separatism" and is currently detained at the Gaobeidian City Detention Center in Hebei Province.[1][2]

In 2019, Pang Jian was interviewed by Radio Television Hong Kong's television program Hong Kong Connection under his baptismal name, Jacob. During the interview, he provided insights into the situation of the underground Catholic Church in Hebei. [3]In December 2020, Pang Jian, using the pen name Gao Yang, was interviewed by Radio Free Asia (RFA), where he discussed his four-year investigation into rural forced demolitions in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. During the interview, he exposed the Chinese Communist Party's use of riot police to violently suppress villagers in order to enforce demolitions. [4]In January 2021, Pang Jian was arrested by the Gaobeidian Public Security Bureau in Hebei Province on charges of "inciting separatism." He was subsequently detained at the Gaobeidian Detention Center.[5]
