The mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) is a tropical evergreen tree with edible fruit native to Maritime Southeast Asia, from the Malay Peninsula to Borneo. It is grown mainly in Southeast Asia, southwest India, and other tropical areas such as Colombia, Puerto Rico and Florida, where the tree has been introduced. The fruit is sweet and tangy, juicy, somewhat fibrous, with fluid-filled vesicles (like the flesh of citrus fruits), with an inedible, deep reddish-purple colored rind (exocarp) when ripe. In each fruit, the fragrant edible white flesh that surrounds each seed is the endocarp, the inner layer of the ovary, and is roughly the same shape and size as a tangerine, about 4 to 6 centimetres (1.5 to 2.5 inches) in diameter. This photograph, which was focus-stacked from 22 individual images, shows two mangosteens, one whole, and the other halved to expose the endocarp.

The Very Large Telescope (VLT) is an astronomical facility operated by the European Southern Observatory, located on Cerro Paranal in the Atacama Desert of northern Chile. It consists of four individual optical telescopes, each equipped with a primary mirror measuring 8.2 metres (27 feet) in diameter, which are generally used separately but can be combined to achieve a very high angular resolution. The VLT array is complemented by four movable auxiliary telescopes with 1.8-metre (5.9-foot) apertures, and the VLT Survey Telescope (at right in the photograph). This photograph, taken at sunset in 2015, shows the VLT and its associated telescopes and supporting buildings.

The orange-lined triggerfish (Balistapus undulatus) is a species of marine ray-finned fish belonging to the triggerfish family, Balistidae. It has a wide Indo-Pacific range, and is typically found in coral reefs, coral lagoons, and external reef slopes. The orange-lined triggerfish has a dark brown to dark green body with orange lines that start behind the head and cover the rest of its body. Its maximum body size is about 30 centimetres (12 inches), with the head about one-third of the body length. Due to its broad diet and distribution, the species is a crucial component in coral reef ecosystems through top-down control, and especially through consumption of sea urchins. This orange-lined triggerfish was photographed in the Red Sea off the Egyptian coast.

Wangath temple complex is a group of Hindu temple monuments in Wangath, close to Naranag, Jammu and Kashmir, India. The current structure was built by Lalitaditya Muktapida of the Karkota dynasty in the 8th century CE but are now ruins. The temple is constructed out of local grey granite and consists of two complexes, dedicated respectively to Shiva Jyeshthesa and Shiva Bhuteshwara, with a central pavilion in between. The temple marks the starting point of pilgrimages to the Gangabal Lake, a high-altitude alpine lake in the Himalayas considered by Kashmiri Hindus to be an abode of Shiva. This photograph shows the main temple of the site's western complex.

Pepper No. 30 is a black and white photograph and is one of the best-known photographs taken by Edward Weston, taken in August 1930. It depicts a solitary green pepper in rich black-and-white tones, with strong illumination from above. Weston photographed Pepper No. 30 using his Ansco 8×10 Commercial View camera with a Zeiss 21 cm lens. The smallest aperture on this lens is f/36.^{[citation needed]} According to Weston's grandson Kim, it was shot at an aperture of f/240 with an exposure time of four to six hours.
