General: Article is new enough and long enough

Policy compliance:

Hook eligibility:

  • Cited: Yes
  • Interesting: Yes
  • Other problems: No - The hook fact from ALT0 is mentioned only in the Bed Chem article, not in the Juno article.
QPQ: Done.

Overall: @MaranoFan, nice work on these articles. I just had one comment about ALT0, which I mentioned above, but ALT1 is good to go if you want that to be approved instead. Epicgenius (talk) 13:36, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I added ALT0 to the other article too, Epicgenius. I like both hooks so frankly I have no preference.--NØ 14:27, 23 September 2024 (UTC)\[reply]
Looks good to me. Epicgenius (talk) 14:29, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

About Genre:

I'm not certain that you can assert with confidence that "Bed Chem" is a disco song. The tempo and instrumentation are much more evocative of 90's/2000's styled R&B from artists like SWV, or Aaliyah, or TLC, and the beat doesn't have a four-on-the-floor styled accent, or a swing at all. Espresso is a great example of the elements that comprise Nu-disco music, or other songs of hers like "Read Your Mind", or "Feather", where there is a distinct four-on-the-floor drum beat, and a swing clearly present. There are lots of other modern examples of what I mean, here's a few: Dance the Night, Say So, About Damn Time, and After Midnight. I think "Bed Chem" is generally closer to synth-pop and Contemporary R&B, even the references on the wiki page acknowledge that Bed Chem is heavily R&B inspired, and I would say its more than just that. Let me know what you all think though. 130.15.33.190 (talk) 18:52, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Well-written

  • Even though not technically MOS, I would still highly advise getting rid of false titles. I have seen that even your featured work has false titles so I won't be too nitpicky, though it is grammatically incorrect.
  • Thanks for the leniency. At the moment, I would like to keep it consistent with my featured content.
  • Wikilink tweets
  • Doesn't "Some journalists"/"Some critics" fall under MOS:WEASEL? Correct me if I'm mistaken/misunderstanding
  • It's a common way of summarizing on music articles, based on my experience, especially in the lead section since mentions of individual critics by name is considered undue weightage.
  • Grace Robins-Somerville uses she/her pronouns per her LinkedIn; you use he/him pronouns in the article.
  • Wikilink Neil McCormick

References

  • Per earwig, copyvio unlikely of 16.7%. Looks great!
  • Interview can be wikilinked in ref. 3
  • Rob Sheffield can be wikilinked in ref. 24
  • Neil McCormick can be wikilinked in ref. 38
  • Sputnikmusic is a staff review. Green tickY
  • Other sources I observed as not being listed as WP:RSP or WP:A/S are either used in multiple other good articles, have an editorial staff, or are not making controversial claims. Article has reliable sources. Green tickY
  • Found no issues in my spot-check when reading through the article; all sources verify their accompanied text. Green tickY
  • No original research that I observed. Green tickY

Broad

  • Covers the major aspects of a standard song article and does not veer off topic. Green tickY

NPOV

  • Green tickY

Stable

  • No edit disputes within the past 14 days. Slight vandalism from an anonymous editor a few days ago but nothing that seems persistent. Green tickY

Illustrated

  • Images are correctly licensed and have ALT text. Green tickY
  • Sound sample is correctly licensed and relevant, complies with WP:SAMPLE. Green tickY

Overall'

  • Fantastic work here, MaranoFan! I will put this article  On hold until my (very few) comments are addressed.
Apologies for the inconvenience, but could you indicate spotchecks for a few references? It is a Wikicup rule this year.--NØ 10:40, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
