MenoBot II Task 1
When MenoBot removes stub templates from long articles, like this it leaves the WikiProject templates on the Talk pages intact. Assuming that the WP templates are set to stub class, which is almost always the case, MenoBot introduces an inconsistency: now the Talk page of an article claims it's a stub but the article itself does not.
This is against WP:DESTUB and indeed human editors have been warned for removing stub templates en masse without updating the WP templates on the talk page. Is this desired behavior? – Finnusertop (talk ⋅ contribs) 17:18, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
- Many of these articles are still stubs. I found a few that were just a short introduction and a long list of species. These are definitely stubs even if they are long. See Peridinium, Rhodomelaceae], and Scytonema. Nessie (talk) 18:21, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
- Which begs the question, who doesn't MenoBot count WP:RPS only? According to WP:STUBDEF, it should. – Finnusertop (talk ⋅ contribs) 18:28, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
- WP:STUBDEF says "Lists, templates, images, and other such peripheral parts of an article are usually not considered when judging whether an article is a stub." I think ignoring bulleted lines when counting the length would be a good choice. --Nessie (talk) 19:02, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
- Which begs the question, who doesn't MenoBot count WP:RPS only? According to WP:STUBDEF, it should. – Finnusertop (talk ⋅ contribs) 18:28, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Finnusertop and NessieVL: Thank you for your messages. As per your comments, I have stopped the bot from running this task for now. The issue that the bot should take talk page assesment into considration has been reported to AWB developers in phab:T180150. I will not run this task again until this phab ticket is resolved. I can see also that NessieVL has reviewed the bot's recent contributions and made any necessary changes, so, nothing further needs to be done. Best wishes. --Meno25 (talk) 17:07, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
Twitter - a small request
Web things are not Internet things. Could you please delete the two internet categories listed for Twitter? I can't do it from this id. Thanks, 67.160.197.209 (talk) 06:21, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
- As Twitter is one of the most viewed articles, so, I believe that this change should be discussed on the article's talk page first. Please mention your request on Talk:Twitter and don't forget to add {{Request edit}} with your request. Best wishes. --Meno25 (talk) 17:12, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
Thank you.

Administrators' newsletter – October 2018
News and updates for administrators from the past month (September 2018).

Interface administrator changes
Cyberpower678 • Deryck Chan • Oshwah • Pharos • Ragesoss • Ritchie333
- Following a request for comment, the process for appointing interface administrators has been established. Currently only existing admins can request these rights, while a new RfC has begun on whether it should be available to non-admins.
- There is an open request for comment on Meta regarding the creation a new user group for global edit filter management.
- Partial blocks should be available for testing in October on the Test Wikipedia and the Beta-Cluster. This new feature allows admins to block users from editing specific pages and in the near-future, namespaces and uploading files. You can expect more updates and an invitation to help with testing once it is available.
- The Foundations' Anti-Harassment Tools team is currently looking for input on how to measure the effectiveness of blocks. This is in particular related to how they will measure the success of the aforementioned partial blocks.
- Because of a data centre test, you will be able to read but not edit the Wikimedia projects for up to an hour on 10 October. This will start at 14:00 (UTC). You might lose edits if you try to save during this time.
- The Arbitration Committee has, by motion, amended the procedure on functionary inactivity.
- The community consultation for 2018 CheckUser and Oversight appointments has concluded. Appointments will be made by October 11.
- Following a request for comment, the size of the Arbitration Committee will be decreased to 13 arbitrators, starting in 2019. Additionally, the minimum support percentage required to be appointed to a two-year term on ArbCom has been increased to 60%. ArbCom candidates who receive between 50% and 60% support will be appointed to one-year terms instead.
- Nominations for the 2018 Arbitration Committee Electoral Commission are being accepted until 12 October. These are the editors who help run the ArbCom election smoothly. If you are interested in volunteering for this role, please consider nominating yourself.
Hassan bin Rahmah Al Qasimi
Hiya. Thanks for the ratings, but old Hassan bin Rahmah deserves (IMHO) more than Start and Low on WikiProject Emirates. The piece is quite detailed and he was a key figure in UAE history as it was he led the Al Qasimi at the time of the seminal 1820 treaty - which turned the 'Pirate Coast' into the 'Trucial States'. Worth a quick review? Best Alexandermcnabb (talk) 10:54, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Alexandermcnabb: Hi and thank you for your message. I updated the article's rating. Best wishes and thank you again for your work on the article. --Meno25 (talk) 11:57, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
- Bless you and thanks. I'm sure the wicked old goat would be pleased... Best Alexandermcnabb (talk) 13:43, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
Start rating for Cynthia Farrar
You rated the article Cynthia Farrar as a "start." I mildly object. To my mind the article is brief but complete, containing all that is worthy of being included in an encyclopedia. "Start" implies to me that information is missing in the article, which I don't believe is true. There are undoubtedly some bells and whistles that could be added to upgrade the article to "good", but I think it is better than a "start" article. Smallchief (talk) 12:30, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Smallchief: Hi and thank you for your message. I rerated the article for you. Best wishes. --Meno25 (talk) 12:47, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks. I could be proven wrong about the completeness of this article if Farrar belatedly becomes a figure of religious veneration. I always smile to think that a wikipedia article about Jesus during his lifetime would have been deleted as he was not notable.Smallchief (talk) 14:13, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
