Question from Luka Maglc (18:27, 15 February 2025)

Hello miss Clovermoss, can I get a 3rd opinion on the subject. --Luka Maglc (talk) 18:27, 15 February 2025 (UTC)

Luka Maglc Hi Luka Maglc, Good day. I am not Covermoss. I think you were trying to contact User:Clovermoss? If so, pls go to her talk page - User talk:Clovermoss. Be safe. Cassiopeia talk 21:57, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
Due to my wikibreak, I put my status as "away". I think you're getting this message because this prompts questions from my mentees to be reassigned. @MMiller (WMF): what does that look like from the mentee's perspective? I'm wondering if it doesn't explain that I'm not really currently available. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 22:00, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
@Clovermoss, MMiller (WMF), and MMiller (WMF):, Good day.
Hi Clovermoss, Thank you for reaching out. I noticed your "Goodbye" message on your talk page, and I understand your perspective. You are young and have made significant contributions to Wikipedia. Please return when you are ready after you :::have taken a short break. Stay safe, Clover, and take good care of yourself.
Greeting, MMiller, I am happy to take on the mentees from Clovermoss' list, and give assistance to the editors.
Hello Luka Maglc, pls provide the URL and the topic of the subject you were refering to for me to comment.

Hello the issues has been resolved, so thank you. Luka Maglc (talk) 01:02, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
Hello @Cassiopeia -- thank you for helping with Clovermoss's mentees! Yes, when a mentor sets their mentorship status to "away", their mentees get temporarily assigned to other mentors. @KStoller-WMF could you please remind us what the mentee sees in this case? Do they get notification, or is that only for a permanent reassignment to a new mentor? You can read more about how it all works here: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Growth/FAQ#away MMiller (WMF) (talk) 20:59, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
Hi! Mentors often mark themselves as "away" for periods of time, so we don’t send notifications to mentees when that happens. However we add context within the "Ask you mentor" modal. The current text reads:
Your primary mentor, (username1), is currently away. Another mentor, (username2), will answer your questions for the time being.
You can see screenshots of how the "Away" functionality appears to newcomers here: T311064#8042842.
As with many things on the wikis, there’s a lot of text, so some new contributors may post a question without fully noticing that message. Let us know if you have suggestions for improvement—we’re always looking for ways to make mentorship more intuitive for both newcomers and mentors!
Unrelated to this scenario, but just for the record, MMiller (WMF) is correct, we do send a notification if a newcomer's mentor permanently steps down and the mentee is reassigned to a new mentor. KStoller-WMF (talk) 00:14, 19 February 2025 (UTC)

Question from Oyibade on User:Oyibade (12:39, 20 February 2025)

What is the use of a page --Oyibade (talk) 12:39, 20 February 2025 (UTC)

Oyibade Good day. I am uncertain about the specific inquiry you are making; however, a page on Wikipedia may refer to an article, a page detailing certain guidelines, a category, a template, among other possibilities. Users have the option to read the information presented or to create a page/ article if the subject adheres to the criteria outlined in the Wikipedia WP:GNG.
If you could provide further details regarding your question, should the information above not meet your needs, I would appreciate it. Regards. Cassiopeia talk 21:14, 20 February 2025 (UTC)

Question from Redstonedeciever (15:32, 20 February 2025)

I'd Like to Create a Wikipedia Description page about someone from South Africa, who has Achieved Quite a lot. --Redstonedeciever (talk) 15:32, 20 February 2025 (UTC)

Redstonedeciever Good day. In order for a subject to warrant a page in the main space of Wikipedia, it must fulfill the criteria outlined in the Wikipedia guideline on notability, specifically the General Notability Guideline (WP:GNG).
GNG is defined as the subject must fulfill specific criteria to demonstrate significant coverage from independent and reliable sources. These sources should provide in-depth discussions about the subject rather than merely offering passing mentions. This requirement is essential for verification, which is a core policy of Wikipedia. If a source is affiliated/associated/connected with the subject—such as the subject's marketing team, company, social media platforms, information in interviews of the subject or any self-published information—this indicates a lack of independence. Consequently, such sources cannot be utilized to satisfy the notability guidelines.Sources originating from educational institutions, government entities, foundations, social media platforms, and private companies are regarded as unreliable. In contrast, materials published by "major" newspapers and "reputable" books are typically considered reliable sources.
I recommend that you read WP:Your first article and adhere to the provided instructions before beginning the creation of an article. Be safe. Cassiopeia talk 21:29, 20 February 2025 (UTC)

Question from Letsgetloudmusic (22:09, 21 February 2025)

Hello! I just would like to add a link to my name in a couple of Wiki pages I'm mentioned in. --Letsgetloudmusic (talk) 22:09, 21 February 2025 (UTC)

Letsgetloudmusic Good day. Please provide your name that is referenced in Wikipedia articles. Cassiopeia talk 22:46, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
Steve Shive 2601:40:C881:B860:D467:7C9E:652:241A (talk) 01:09, 22 February 2025 (UTC)
Letsgetloudmusic, Did you mean "Steve Shive" (drummer) in Kingfish (band) article? Cassiopeia talk 01:46, 22 February 2025 (UTC)
yes 2x I am mentioned in the article itself and in the list of members I am listed there as well. Thank you. 2601:40:C881:B860:6CE:BF5E:6715:8FD0 (talk) 05:19, 22 February 2025 (UTC)
Letsgetloudmusic "Steve Shive" can only be linked if the individual has a standalone article on Wikipedia. In other words, since there is currently no article for "Steve Shive" on Wikipedia, it is not possible to create a link to the page for Kingfish (band). Regards. NPP training request

Hi there, it's an honor to be acquainted with such an experienced editor. I'm concerned about the NPP backlog, so I would like to request training for NPP from you, with the intention to actively contribute to NPP and other anti-vandalism efforts in the future. Feel free to check out my user page. Once again, it would be an honor and my absolute pleasure to be under your tutelage. Cheers and have a good day! HKLionel (talk) 07:39, 22 February 2025 (UTC)

HKLionel Good day. I appreciate your interest in participating in the NPPS program. Given your interest in anti-counter vandalism, I would like to draw your attention to the WP:CVUA program. The CVUA program is generally regarded as less challenging than the NPPS program. Therefore, it may be beneficial for you to participate in the CVUA program prior to pursuing the NPPS, should that this aligns with your preferences.
I also serve as one of the trainers for the CVUA; however, you are free to choose any trainer from the provided list. Both the NPPS and CVUA programs require a considerable investment of time to thoroughly review the guidelines and complete the assignments. Typically, participants complete the program within three months; however, there is no strict deadline for completion, as each editor progresses through the assignments at their own pace.
Should you wish to participate in the CVUA or NPPS program after reviewing the information provided above, please inform me so that I may set up the program for you. Best regards. Cassiopeia talk 09:11, 22 February 2025 (UTC)
Yes, I'm aware of CVUA. I think I just kind of want to specifically focus on NPP, and I am confident in my ability to handle the requirements of the program over the training period. Therefore, I would like to reiterate my interest in participating in the NPPS program. Thanks! HKLionel (talk) 09:19, 22 February 2025 (UTC)
HKLionel I have set up NPPS program for your participation. Kindly review the information provided in the "communication section" at the bottom of the assignment prior to addressing the questions presented in the assignment. Welcome to NPPS. Best regards. NPP school

Hi. I recently requested NPP, which was declined by Rosguill with their rationale relating to my AFD stats: while the match rate is high, some of the arguments are shaky, and there's also signs of a lack of thoroughness in WP:BEFORE. Rosguill recommended NPP school so here I am. Thank you. 🐔 Chicdat  Bawk to me! 12:35, 22 February 2025 (UTC)
