"This announcement and change was met with immense backlash from YouTubers and privacy experts alike.[1][2] Concerns were raised over being required to hand over data that could be leaked or breached. Many grew worried about the platform misclassifying them as underage and discouraging many others from using it. It also resulted in a Change.org petition that has amassed over 50,000 signatures with many decrying the decision as intrusive "AI spying".[1]"
As this shows the backlash to the AI Age Verification amid creator privacy. 2600:4041:528B:ED00:B405:B92F:575F:4FCA (talk) 17:00, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This is so real I have been looking for someone else that agrees that AI age or face check is really dumb, like it could work in some ways but some people look younger then they are and get forced in to an age lock that requeres personal info. also teens could get recognised by the AI as an adult and start seeing videos or content that is meant for adults or older teens. ~2025-41002-38 (talk) 23:41, 15 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Explanation for "si=" suffix at the end of YouTube urls?
Can someone explain the "si=nnnnnnnn" where nnnnnnnn is a variable alphanumeric string at the end of YouTube urls? It is obviously optional, as removing it doesn't affect access to the target video. Blainster (talk) 00:24, 8 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's a tracking code added when you use the share feature. It's right that it works without it - leaving it on could trace a share back to you as a user. JoeHenzi (talk) 20:14, 11 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
NYE Countdown Controversy
Seems across multiple live streams they systematically interrupted live streams of the NYE countdown so users could not see the actual end of the year. Many in the streams said they did this the year prior. In two streams at the 15 second countdown they cut to a 15 second commercial. In one case there were users actively paying "tips" in the live chat to get their comments seen at the time but were cut off for the ads. JoeHenzi (talk) 05:17, 1 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Not seeing any articles about this, so it is very difficult to impossible to include. If you can find sources for this, then it can be considered. --Super Goku V (talk) 02:25, 7 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
It's weird because there are mentions of this happening before, but maybe sanitized? Asking AI, they'll tell you it happened in 2023 and they promised to not do it again, but you can't find sources on this either. JoeHenzi (talk) 20:12, 11 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
